Southside Baptist Church

Southside Baptist Church Where religion ends and a relationship begins. We love to praise and worship our Lord and it is felt in everything we do. You will feel welcomed.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the only basis for any statement of our faith. We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. Who We Are

We are a group of baptized believers that are so full of excitement that you will feel the minute you s

tep inside the sanctuary. We worship however we feel comfortable, if it's raising your hands or clapping your hands, it's welcomed. What kind of church is this? Southside Baptist Church (SSBC) is a Southern Baptist church. SSBC has a local group of deacons who provide direction and oversight for the church. We have no hierarchy or any other religious body that influences what happens at SSBC. Our goal is to live as Christians following the teaching of Christ found in the Bible. Our church congregation is a very active, multi-generational group of people who have a growing love for the Lord and for others. Is children's programming provided? Yes, a loving and safe children's programming is provided at SSBC. Our kids ministry is the ideal spot for infants through sixth graders. Children's classes at SSBC are exciting, interactive, and age-appropriate. Will my child be safe? We know that as a parent you need to be sure that your children are in a SAFE learning environment. And we know that your children are looking for a FUN place to learn. We’ve invested a lot to make sure that both of these goals are reached. All caregivers have gone through background checks and are members of the church. You can leave your children in a warm, loving environment during any service including the Sunday school hour. We care deeply about your peace of mind. In our infants through 3 years, we have an up to date paging system to notify you if your presence is needed in the nursery. You will be issued a pager when you drop off you child/children. What about my teenager?

7th through 12th grade students enjoy classes, activities and special events that age related. The discussions and teaching help students deal with the many pressures they face and guide them toward healthy choices. How do I become a member? The only requirements for membership at SSBC are that you have a personal relationship with Jesus, and that you have celebrated that relationship by means of baptism by immersion. At SSBC, membership involves more than simply getting your name on a list. We ask that all members participate in spiritual growth opportunities beyond weekend services, regularly serve in a ministry, and financially support the Lord’s work at SSBC. For more information, please contact the church office (210.626.2110). What is baptism and how is it conducted during worship services? Baptism is simply God's way of allowing us to show that we believe in what Jesus did for us on the cross and that we're trusting in Him alone to save us from the penalty of our sins. Baptism by immersion illustrates Christ's burial and resurrection, and it identifies us as having received a new life. Each weekend worship service at SSBC is concluded with an invitation to become a Christ-follower. If you come forward during this time, a pastor will talk to you about your decision (to become a Christ-follower and/or be baptized). If you are ready, we can make immediate arrangements for your baptism. The water is warm and robes, towels, and changing rooms are always ready. Or, if you prefer, you can set a future date to be baptized. What is The Lord's Supper or Communion and how is it viewed at SSBC? Communion is the memorial Jesus gave to remind us of the price He paid - He gave His life - for our sins. While there is no mandate in Scripture for how often to take communion, we believe that frequent observance lessens the significance, so we partake quarterly. Lord's Supper is another term used for communion. Anyone who is a follower of Christ is invited to participate. What are the musical styles of SSBC worship services? Each worship service includes heartfelt music that will draw you close to God. The best way to describe our worship music is Spirit filled. We blend contemporary Christian music with heart felt traditional songs and everyone is blessed.

God Shot ✨

There is something beautiful about meeting God early. Before the noise, before the demands, before the distractions—His Word reminds us that He is already there.

Today, take a moment to open your Bible, quiet your heart, and listen. The same God who called Moses still speaks, still leads, and still keeps His promises.

"Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening." — 1 Samuel 3:9

Today we celebrate and congratulate all of our graduating seniors and graduates from our church family! We are so proud of your hard work, perseverance, and faith through every season.

This week, our church was honored to host a special Senior Luncheon alongside our Youth Pastors, Sister Maria and Brother Martin, together with parents and loved ones, to pray over and encourage this next generation as they step into their future.

May each graduate continue to walk boldly in God’s purpose, trusting Him in every next step. Your church family is cheering you on!

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3

Today’s God Shot ❤️

God is no respecter of persons. He sees the overlooked, the forgotten, the struggling, and the weary. The world may focus on status, ability, or position, but God looks at the heart.

The more we recognize our need for Him, the more we experience His nearness, provision, and joy. No situation is too impossible, no person too far, and no life beyond His reach.

Today, let’s remember: God delights in drawing near to those who depend on Him. 🙏

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

Genesis 19–21 reminds us that even in the middle of brokenness, failure, waiting, and fear, God never stops pursuing His people. Lot struggled, Abraham stumbled, Sarah laughed in doubt, and Hagar felt abandoned in the wilderness — yet God still showed mercy, fulfilled promises, and made a way where there seemed to be none.

Today’s God Shot:
God’s faithfulness is not dependent on perfect people. He is still working through imperfect lives, redeeming broken situations, and keeping every promise He makes. The same God who saw Hagar in the desert sees us today. The same God who fulfilled His promise to Abraham and Sarah is still faithful in our waiting. Grace is not earned — it is given by a God who refuses to leave His children behind.

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” — Genesis 18:14

After all the questions, pain, and suffering, Job finally encounters the greatness of God. In Job 40-42, we are reminded that God is still sovereign even when we do not understand the struggle.

Sometimes the breakthrough is not getting every answer we want — it is realizing God never lost control. Job’s story ends with restoration, but first came surrender, humility, and trust in the Lord.

God is still working, even in seasons that feel heavy. Keep your faith anchored in Him. 🙏📖

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, spiritual mothers, and women who lead with love, faith, and sacrifice. Today we honor the strength, compassion, and grace you show every day.

Jesus showed us the heart of true love — patient, selfless, and full of mercy. Through Him, we see the beauty of a mother’s care and the power of faith passed from one generation to the next.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” – Proverbs 31:28

May God continue to strengthen every mother, surround you with peace, and remind you that your love reflects the love of Christ.

Happy Mother’s Day from our church family! 🌸✝️

Job reminds us that pain is not always punishment. Sometimes God uses the struggle to shape us, strengthen us, and draw us closer to Him. Even in the storm, God has not left your side. Trust His process… there is joy on the other side. 🙏📖
