The San Antonio Metropolitan Area Command provides the leadership, planning, coordination, and administration of all The Salvation Army's programs and services in Bexar and Comal Counties. Programs and services are provided to individuals and families, from infants to seniors, every day of the year to transform lives and make our neighborhoods and communities a better place for each of us. From kindergarten to graduation, The Salvation Army Family Stores were there to help keep Xiphias clothed, confident, and ready for every school year.

Now, he's headed to the University of Texas this fall to study Environmental Science! In a note to our team, Xiphias shared, "Thank you Salvation Army San Antonio for keeping me clothed and stylish since Kindergarten!"

In honor of National Donut Day, The Salvation Army of San Antonio, sponsored by the 502d Air Base Wing, distributed free donuts to staff and students at the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston on June 5.

National Donut Day was established by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the "Donut Lassies," the volunteers who served donuts and provided comfort to American soldiers during World War I.

Today, we continue that tradition by sharing a small act of kindness and expressing our appreciation to the men and women who serve our nation and support military readiness every day.

Thank you to the leadership, staff, and students at METC for allowing us to be part of your day, and to the 502d Air Base Wing for helping to make this special event possible.

Happy National Donut Day! We are honored to team up with the amazing folks at Carlo's Bakery to spread a little joy and sweetness to our soldiers at Ft. Sam Houston.

Did you know National Donut Day was actually started by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honor our brave "Donut Lassies" who served freshly baked treats to soldiers on the frontlines during World War I?

In San Antonio, we are carrying out that tradition. We are on the ground at Ft. Sam Houston with our mobile canteen truck to hand out delicious Carlo's Bakery donuts and thank our local veterans for their service and sacrifice.

A warm doughnut became a reminder that someone cared, and that one act of love has rippled through generations.
