The StoneBeacon Coven is a working group of practitioners--Initiates, Dedicates and Students--of the Mound Tradition of WitchCraft; an evolutionary, non-heteronormative WitchCraft Stream. Mission (What We Do)
Our Mission is to assist the Witch in the Evolution of the Spirit by providing a non-static praxis that can be Worked, Experienced and Lived, offering open admission to those seeking an alte
rnative to overly dogmatic and heteronormative groups and spiritualities. We create change in the Universe by creating change in ourselves, growing, adapting and evolving. We explore magical practices to achieve this evolution, part of the purpose to whit, is the breaking down of unnecessary and inappropriate barriers which inhibit the growth of the individual. We have built strong alliances with the Guardians of the Mound, the Mound itself, Ancestral Spirits, and Terrestrial Spirits, and continue honoring them as we explore the Hidden Realms where angels fear to tread. We conduct ourselves according to the Gvardioj Virtoj:
-Bonfarado (Charity)-
To engage in Charity is to change one’s perspective; to recognize the Self in another person. Often, Charity is mistaken with Giving.
-Empatio (Empathy)-
Empathy is the recognition of another person’s feelings, ideas, attitudes, etc. The key, then, is recognizing; which indicates a physical presence (i.e. I stand before the altar), of being before another person’s suffering. It is often confused with Sympathy.
-Kompato (Compassion)-
To feel Compassion is to feel a desire to alleviate the suffering of another, but not remove it fully. To alleviate is to make something easier to endure, to lessen or mitigate it, so that the other person can rise up in their fullness once more. Like helping someone with their hands full, we offer our hand to help, but do not carry all of another's burden. Often, Compassion is confused with Rescue. Vision (Where We're Going)
By offering open admission to those seeking an alternative to overly dogmatic and heteronormative groups and spiritualities, who have a heartfelt desire to grow and are willing to do the Work necessary to do so, we hope to grow our Coven and our Tradition, bringing the praxis of the Mound to the Pagan Communities of Salt Lake, and beyond. As a Coven with deep practices in Ancestral and Spirit Work, we hope to provide a Sacred Space where everyone may gain insight to their future, by working with their past. By strengthening our relationships and maintaining a strong, beneficial presence in the community, we hope to share ourselves with others, so that those who feel the pull of the Mound may come Home, and those passing through may find the Path that best fits their feet. We hope to bring participants to all of our Fête Days, so that even those who do not share our Tradition can still experience the evolutionary, life changing and deeply abiding practices of the Mound.
