This article shows some of the photos that the church has released and the press conference, (if I had known the cameras were going the whole time I would have turned around and waved at you :^) that was held in the chapel on Temple Square. Chapels differ from Temples and are where congregations meet for church services on Sundays and have activities during the weeks. Temples are where our highest ordinances (sacraments) occur, for example marriages that can last forever not 'until death do you part'. Here we learn about our Father in Heaven's plan for our happiness and how all of His children (living & dead) can make covenants with Him and receive saving ordinances, for example baptism, also for those who never had that chance in this life time. I am honored to be a part of this awesome church and this beautiful Piazze del Tempio di Roma! Like Craig says, it is as if Altalia dropped us into the middle of the Garden of Eden!

The open house has begun and it is awesome!! You can see Craig in this video, with his 1st Councilor at the ground breaking. One correction, the Church bought the land in 1999, two weeks after we arrived on our mission. Craig was privileged to represent the church in that purchase. The Temple, Visitor's Center and grounds are gorgeous!!

Public tours begin this month for the Rome Italy Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Italy.

As our missionaries we want to share with you the unexpected, but wonderful news, of the opportunity extended to us by the First Presidency to serve as President and Matron of the Rome Italy Temple. We are extremely honored and very humbled at this opportunity. This notice has just been publicly announced on https://www.ldschurchnews.com/callings/2018-07-12/new-temple-presidents-called-to-serve-in-colombia-and-rome-47568.

Given the special place you hold in our lives, we desired to share this wonderful news with you more personally now that we are permitted to do so.

We have no details about our service yet as we were just called and our training is not scheduled until October after General Conference. But we’ll keep you informed as we learn anything that may be of interest. We also don't have any information about dedication tickets. We were told that any who would desire to serve in the temple as ordinance workers or as sealers should contact the Temple Department directly.

As has been previously published, the Rome Temple should be open to the public starting on Tuesday, March 19th following the dedication.

We have always been blessed with the knowledge that our Heavenly Father loves us and desires us to be filled with joy throughout the eternities. The realization of those hopes are made possible by the receipt of all the temple blessings available to us. We are so grateful that during our lives we have seen so many temples built including this beautiful edifice in Rome. To serve in one of Their Holy Houses, in the same area that Peter and Paul walked, is indeed a wonderful blessing. It will be a further blessing to see and feel the heavenly power exercised in the uniting eternally of husbands, wives, and children using the sealing keys promised to Peter in Matthew 16:19 and later given to him and all the original twelve apostles. How blessed and grateful we are for a loving Heavenly Father, a Savior who has no desire other than to do the Father's will and bless our lives even to the point of giving His own life for us, and then to live when actual prophets again walk the earth and represent heaven to us all.

Thanks for being such a special part of our lives and hopefully we'll see you sometime over the next 3 or so years in Rome. What a wonderful time to find ourselves united on the "covenant path!!"

May our loving Heavenly Father, and His Holy Son Jesus Christ, bless you richly with peace, understanding, and the knowledge necessary to return to live with Them once again.

We are thrilled with the announcement of the Rome Italy Temple Open House and Dedication from January - March 2019!

The public is invited to tour the first temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Italy. Church leaders announced the Rome Italy Temple will be open for a free public open house from Monday, January 28, 2019, to Saturday, February 16, 2019, excluding Sundays.
