A fire at Dugan Khad Resort in Mongolia destroyed three buildings and damaged a fourth at the site selected for a late June For the Strength of Youth (FSY) conference. Young single adults from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints traveled to the resort to help clear debris and clean soot from damaged buildings and furniture following the May 17 fire. Recovery efforts are underway as organizers continue preparations for the conference at the same location.

President Dallin H. Oaks said the new Humanitarian Center in Salt Lake City will strengthen the Church’s ability to prepare and distribute emergency supplies to meet needs around the world. President Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring toured the 250,000-square-foot facility on May 22 ahead of its dedication on May 27. The new center, operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will provide job training and employment support while expanding humanitarian service efforts worldwide.

Elder Clark G. Gilbert praised the rapid growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Africa during a recent meeting with the Africa West Area Presidency. Leaders discussed the expansion of the Church, including the creation of 15 stakes and seven new missions, as well as the impact of BYU–Pathway Worldwide and seminary programs across the region. Elder Gilbert described the experience as witnessing “the majesty of this moment of growth in the Church.”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has contributed $25 million to UNICEF Child Nutrition Fund to support efforts to reduce malnutrition among children and mothers worldwide. The donation is part of a matching initiative that will bring the total impact to $50 million. The program supports nutrition interventions including vitamins, breastfeeding support, and treatment for severe malnutrition in multiple countries.

Elder David A. Bednar met with Chilean President José Antonio Kast at La Moneda Presidential Palace in Santiago on May 18, 2026. Their discussions focused on strengthening families, supporting youth, promoting religious freedom and identifying ways The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints could assist communities in Chile. Church representatives also highlighted youth programs and educational initiatives, including BYU–Pathway Worldwide, during the meeting.
