“Walking together” means sharing gifts, learning from one another, and building something stronger side by side. Como Park Lutheran member Ruth Pechauer recently traveled with a delegation to visit our partner congregation in the Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (ILAG). Our partnership is rooted in mutual respect, shared leadership, and the belief that every community brings its own strengths.

During this visit Ruth and her colleague Graydon Finn shared project management tools in Spanish to support local leaders as they continue shaping and strengthening their own community initiatives. The goal was simple: to equip leaders with resources that help them carry forward the visions they already hold.

We’re grateful for Ruth’s dedication and proud to be part of this ongoing journey of leadership development and shared learning!

Ruth Pechauer has been a delegation member on many visits to an ILAG companion congregation in the Petén region. Throughout these visits, members have created relationships with their Guatemalan siblings [

100 Years of Worship đŸŽ¶

When Tom Ferry first came to Como Park Lutheran in 1998, his son Ethan was just six months old. During one early service, Ethan managed to crawl all the way to the front of the sanctuary. The pastor simply scooped him up and continued the announcements without missing a beat.

“It was like, yeah,” Tom remembers, “This is home.”

For more than 25 years, Tom has served as Director of Music Ministries, helping shape the music that becomes part of worship each week at Como Park Lutheran.

“Worship should be a place where people can both be accepted and have a voice.”

As we prepare to celebrate 100 years of Como Park Lutheran this April, we’re sharing stories from the people who help shape the life of worship in this community.

We were grateful to receive this kind note from ComoConnects, thanking our congregation for supporting their work in our neighborhood. Como Connects serves older adults in the Como community, helping them stay connected and independent through services such as rides to appointments, friendly visits, help with errands, and social programs.

As we celebrate 100 years of ministry, we give thanks for partnerships like this that reflect our shared commitment to caring for our neighbors. We are grateful to be part of a community that continues to look out for one another. If you are interested in learning more about their resources or how to volunteer, visit their website here: https://www.comoconnects.org/
