Why do we lie to God? 🙏

Not because we mean to. But because somewhere along the way we decided the honest version of ourselves wasn’t acceptable enough to bring to Him.

So we perform. We pray the prayers that sound right instead of the ones that are true. We show up looking put together on the outside while everything on the inside is falling apart.

But Psalm 13 is David saying — God where are you? Have you forgotten me? How long will you hide your face?

That’s not a polished prayer. That’s a desperate one. And God received it.

Taking it off means showing up to God as you actually are. He already knows. And He still chooses you. 💛

God has always loved you. Always has and always will. No matter what.

“I believe — help my unbelief.” — Mark 9:24 🙏

Kenny reminded us Sunday that getting honest with God doesn’t mean having it all together. It means showing up exactly where you are — doubt, fear, questions and all — and trusting that He can handle it.

David did it in Psalm 22. The father of the demon-possessed boy did it in Mark 9. John the Baptist did it from prison in Matthew 11.

And God showed up every single time.

That’s the God we bring our honest prayers to. The one who receives our doubt, our fear, our desperate questions — and answers.

No mask round here. 💛

God has always loved you. Always has and always will. No matter what.

Gratitude is not a feeling. It’s a choice. 🙏

Celebrate Recovery Lesson 22 is all about Gratitude — and coming off a week where Kenny unpacked what it looks like to be truly honest with God — this one hits different.

Because the No Mask version of gratitude isn’t pretending everything is fine. It’s not performing thankfulness when your heart is heavy. It’s choosing to look at what God has done even in the middle of what’s still hard.

David did it in Psalm 13. “How long O Lord?” — and then turned to praise in the same breath.

That’s gratitude without a mask. Raw. Real. And incredibly powerful. 💛

We are SO excited about what God is putting together for August 1st! 🎉💛

904 Kids Fest is happening and here’s what we have so far:

Why do we lie? Not just to other people — but to ourselves. And maybe most painfully — to God.

This week in our Nothing to Hide series, Kenneth brings us face to face with one of the most uncomfortable questions we can ask ourselves: Am I really being honest with God?

We can show up every Sunday. Sing every song. Say every prayer. And still be hiding. Still performing. Still putting on the mask the moment we walk through the doors because somewhere along the way we decided that the polished version of ourselves was more acceptable than the real one.

But here’s what God already knows — everything. Every ugly corner. Every hidden thing. Every version of yourself you’ve tried to bury.

Why the lie? What are we taking off? And what does it actually look like to live with no mask round here?

No mask. Hearts wide open. This is what Nothing to Hide looks like. �

What would it feel like to be completely known — every ugly corner, every hidden thing, every version of yourself you’ve tried to bury — and still be completely chosen? 💛

That’s exactly what Jesus is offering.

He sees every failure, every flaw, every iniquity — and plenty of things He could judge us for. But He was sent here to deliver us. From ourselves. From sin. From everything on that list.

Elizabeth closed Sunday with a prayer that wrecked us in the best way — “Give me the courage to keep looking at myself honestly. Give me the strength to bring it to You.”

That’s the prayer. That’s the invitation. That’s the Nothing to Hide series.

Come experience it tomorrow morning. Bring someone who needs to hear it. And stick around after service — we are planning something BIG for our community and we need YOU in the room. 💛

If the Son sets you free — you will be free indeed. ✝️

John 8:34-36. Everyone who practices sin is a slave to those things as long as they are being dishonest about them. A slave to sin.

But the Son remains forever. And if we let Him set us free — if we stop hiding, stop managing, stop performing — He will use every single broken piece of it for His glory.

Elizabeth said it Sunday from her own life — every single time God brought her through something she thought could never be healed, never be fixed, never be okay — He used it. For someone else. For His glory. For her freedom.

“I know this freedom. I live in it every day. And it is the most comforting peace I have ever experienced.”

That is available to you. Right now. Today. 💛

He doesn’t judge us like we judge ourselves. 💛

John 8:15 — “You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.”

He doesn’t judge us for withholding ourselves from Him. He doesn’t judge us for grabbing the reins back. He doesn’t judge us for the polished prayers or the performed version of ourselves we keep showing up with.

He just loves us.

But here’s what He needs from us — less of us and more of Him. Less of our version of the story. Less of our control. Less of the imaginary brake pedal we keep slamming on the passenger side.

Just honest. Just surrendered. Just clinging to Him like a tired toddler at the end of a long day. 💛

“Stop hiding. Stop managing. Just cling to Him.”

That’s the freedom. And it’s available to every single one of us today.

God has always loved you. Always has and always will. No matter what.

The Pharisees had Jesus standing right in front of them. 🙏

Miracles happening with their own eyes. Truth being spoken like no one had ever spoken before. And they still couldn’t get past themselves to see it.

How does that happen?

Elizabeth unpacked it Sunday — we can be so committed to our own version of the truth about who we are that we don’t allow Him into our lives fully. Some of us lie to others. Some of us don’t lie to others anymore but we still lie to ourselves. Some of us don’t lie to ourselves or others but we withhold our real selves from God. We perform for Him. We pray polished prayers instead of honest ones.

“Is the truth standing right in front of you?”

Stop performing. Start being honest. He already knows — and He still chooses you. 💛

This Wednesday night at Celebrate Recovery — we are celebrating. 🎓🙌

Step Study Graduation is one of the most powerful nights in the CR calendar. It’s the moment when people who have done the hard, honest, uncomfortable work of walking through the steps get to stand up and say — I did it. God did it through me. And I am not the same person I was when I started.

Elizabeth said it Sunday — radical honesty was life-changing. Getting uncomfortable. Getting honest. Bringing it to His feet.

That’s exactly what the step study is. And tonight we celebrate everyone who said yes to that process. 💛
