The Greater Sacramento Muslim Public Affairs Committee (GSM PAC), in partnership with Tarbiya Institute, proudly presents From Pawns to Power! This is a first of its kind civic education and leadership course designed to equip Muslims with the knowledge and ethical grounding to engage meaningfully in public life.

The course is led by Omar Hashemyan, Legislative Aide in the California State Assembly, and Dr. Umer Waris, former UC Irvine instructor of Lessons from the Civil Rights Movement. Guest speakers include Imam Dawud Walid, Imam Azeez, Bill Wong, and Dr. Flo Cofer, each bringing firsthand experience in advocacy, policy, and community leadership. Using the core texts Towards Sacred Activism by Imam Dawud Walid and Better to Win: Hardball Lessons in Leadership, Influence, and the Craft of Politics by Bill Wong, participants will examine real-world case studies, ethical dilemmas, and strategies for effective civic engagement.

People worldwide continue to stand with Palestine embracing symbols like the keffiyeh, olive branch, and tatreez in admiration of its people’s resilience and unbreakable faith.

Tarbiya Institute is honored to host the “100 Years of Palestine” Immersive Exhibition once again for Northern California and beyond.

Previously attended by thousands, this exhibition invites visitors to explore the Holy Land’s history, heritage, and culture through art, imagery, and historical artifacts. We welcome all people of conscience and all faith communities to experience the enduring beauty and legacy of Palestine.

Join us November 22–23 from 10 AM–6 PM for the general public and on November 24–25 for group visits by appointment only.
