This Sunday, Rev. Greg will begin his 8 week series on the Book of Revelation. Our Adult Education class (10 a.m. in the Club Room) will begin a parallel unit this Sunday focusing on the artwork inspired by the Book of Revelation.

The children have already begun to create artwork that will either adorn our worship bulletins or be shared on social media that focus on the scriptures selected for worship.

This week two of our young artists were inspired by the scripture verse of Revelation 1:9-20.

The Youth led us in worship this past Sunday, sharing their experiences in serving and growing their faith with Sierra Service Project! We are grateful that they shared their stories, favorite SSP snacks, and Spirit Walk beads to make a bracelet.

Through donations from Westminster members and friends we were able to send these five wonderful youths to Del Norte to help the local community.

On July 7, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston while driving a work van with his crew. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder.

Join INDIVISIBLE Sacramento for a vigil and silent march to pay our respects to these victims and to demand justice for all on Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Cactus Garden at the Capitol Park (N Street & 15th Street, Sacramento, CA, 95814)

Westminster is hosting a memorial service soon after the vigil; we ask that you do not leave vehicles in our lot unless you are attending the memorial.

Yesterday, Jerry was recognized by the Worship Ministry Team for his many years of service as Usher Captain and for being a wonderfully fabulous person.

Jerry recently retired from the Usher Captaincy, but continues to spread his love, kindness, and colorful personality at Westminster every week.

This Saturday, 7/11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., we are participating in a SingIN Protest Song Prep Rally with the Carmichael Resistance Choir and Singing Resistance.

Come jointhe Peace & Justice Choir for some fabulous music and a chance to fill yourself with the energy of all these voices singing together!

This is part of an all-day Resistance Festival, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento, 2425 Sierra Blvd. (near Howe and Fair Oaks).

There will be sign making, tabling from various resistance groups, haiku, soul collage, a ukulele jam session, voter registration, button making, a food drive, and more!

Throughout the year, please join SacACT at its multi-faith prayer vigils.

The vigils are on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the John Moss Federal Building, 650 Capitol Mall (corner of 7th and Capitol Mall). Join us as we gather in song, prayer, and public witness to show our solidarity with the immigrant community.

Ten Busy Bees aged 2-12 had five fun-filled evenings at the hive June 15-19th during Vacation Bible School (VBS). They learned how they, like bees, can Belong, Be Brave, Be Kind, Be You, and Be Loved. Each night, families and volunteers shared supper. Following supper, the Bees were busy learning about honey bees and native bees, doing science experiments, making native bee houses, learning the Waggle Dance, planting pollinator-friendly plants, and creating artwork.

Many thanks to: Tricia Morris and Michelle Mosnier for months of planning to create this original program; Hilary, Sally and Elizabeth Po***ck for leading the science activities each night; Judy Foote, Joanna Miller, Franny Subang and Eva Schwartz on the clean-up crew; Judy, Tricia, Michelle and Katie O’Kelly for meal prep; Judy and Roberta Franklin for helping out around the hive; Janet Matranga for baking delicious desserts; Virgina and Marianne Clemmens for designing and printing fantastic T-shirts; Samantha Jones for serving as our Queen Bee and for making the slide show for the final evening; Tricia for organizing the crocheters who produced a worker bee for every child to take home.

Out of the Depths: A Three-Week Series on Jonah

Beginning This Sunday

It starts like a fairy tale: once upon a time, God told a prophet to go to a great city. The prophet ran the other way.
The book of Jonah is one of the strangest, funniest, and most surprising in all of scripture—a satirical comedy about a reluctant prophet, a repentant empire, and a God whose mercy keeps outrunning everyone's expectations. Over the next three weeks, we'll read the entirety of Jonah aloud in worship and follow our antihero prophet from the belly of the fish to the outskirts of Nineveh, where it turns out the story was always about us.

Come on in. We're going to spin you a tale.
