Epiclesis: An Ancient-Future Faith Community

Epiclesis: An Ancient-Future Faith Community Wondering what in the world "Ancient-Future" means? And are you curious about what an "Epiclesis" is anyway?

Zip over to www.Epiclesis.org to learn more... we'd love to have you visit. We are an evangelical, Christian church that believes the road to the future runs through the past. And this is partly what “Ancient-Future” means: Our worship and spirituality are deeply rooted in classic Christianity. We’re convinced that the faith and practice of the ancient Church will engage our culture more effectively and provide a way forward in a time of almost unbelievable transition and change.

We have a question for you: How does your church-- your specific, local part of the Body of Christ-- view Easter? Is it a one-off event, perhaps like Christmas? Or is it a whole season of reflection? Think carefully about this, and consider what it means. And consider this question: Is your church's "calendar" centered on the civic calendar, or perhaps a pastor's preaching plan, or is it centered on the historic ordering of the Christian year focusing on the life of Christ?

Epiclesis family and friends, on this Good Friday night, as we continue to contemplate the death and burial of the Savior of the world, it's tempting to hurry ahead in anticipation of resurrection morning. Yet I encourage us to hold steady and "sit with" the heaviness of today & tomorrow. Don't move along too quickly. These are weighty and consequential days. A blessed Triduum to you. -Pastor Chris
