“Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12

Today, we learned that in order for parents and children to have a blessed life, children must (1) learn by example, (2) learn honor and respect, and (3) learn that life is a gift. Parents must understand the responsibility that God has entrusted to them: to guide and shape their children in the way the Lord has called.

In Acts 3:19-26, we see Peter urging the Israelites to repent and turn back to the God who wants to save them, something much easier said than done. How can we truly repent of our sins? We must learn the way of grace, to not let guilt or shame define us, but instead to trust God to refresh and restore our souls as He promises.

What shame and guilt do you need to trust God to erase today?

Sunday at Cook, we looked at Acts 3:1-19, where a lame man was healed outside of the temple. From the story of healing, we realize we are helpless on our own, and that what we need most is the presence of God. Remember that you can’t fix everything, and that everything you need has come and is with you in the form of Jesus.

Illumination Station VBS was this week at Cook!
In case you missed it, the kids had a blast learning about Jesus and the light that He brings to the dark world. Thank you to the volunteers who poured out their time and energy to make sure each of the kids knows Jesus more now than they did a week ago!
