On Sunday September 6th Guest Preacher, Rev. Rina Shere will present, "Exploring The Role of Forgiveness In Your Spiritual Well-Being"

"All world religions have something to say about forgiveness, along with practices for making amends. The culture we live in also impacts how we think about forgiveness. Can one remain angry and still forgive? Is it possible to forgive and forget? Who benefits most from the act of forgiveness? Sunday will offer an exploration of these questions (and more!) offering space to navigate a very human process with deep spiritual consequences."

This Sunday August 30th, Rev. Anthony Makar shares: "The Promise that Holds Us"

"What does it mean for a congregation to practice democracy as a spiritual discipline? On a day when West Shore will make an important congregational decision, we will reflect on the deeper promise that holds us together. Drawing from our Unitarian Universalist covenantal tradition and the words of James Vila Blake, “Love is the spirit of this church,” this sermon will explore how communities can hold conviction without contempt, practice truth-seeking in love, and remain faithful to one another even when the vote is hard."

"Fear does not only work through laws. It works through atmosphere, making people wonder whether they still belong. In this sermon, we’ll reflect on the politics of fear, the power of historical memory, and the kind of love needed in this moment: love with courage, discipline, humility, and good judgment. As our country struggles again over the size of “we the people,” we are called not only to act, but to act wisely, faithfully, and together."

"Wisdom is one of humanity’s oldest longings. Long before our own time, people were asking how to live well in a world filled with beauty, heartbreak, unfairness, and change. This Sunday, we’ll explore the wisdom books of the Hebrew Bible: Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes. Together, they do not offer one easy answer. They give us a conversation about discipline, protest, acceptance, grief, joy, and the courage to keep loving this crooked, shining world."

On Sunday July 19th - Guest Speaker Heidi Wormser presents: "How Do We Live in a Troubled World - A Buddhist Perspective" :

"The Buddha famously said that he taught only two things: suffering and the end of suffering. While the challenges of our time can leave us feeling discouraged, fearful, or divided from one another, the Buddha's teachings point toward ways of responding that reduce suffering rather than add to it. Generosity, compassion, and wisdom can help us navigate difficult circumstances and become a source of healing in our communities and the wider world. Although rooted in Buddhist practice, these teachings speak to universal human concerns and can be of benefit people of any faith tradition—or none at all. You are invited to practice for yourself and learn more from the personal insights of those who make this tradition part of their daily lives."

However, accepting the limits of our knowledge and the ambiguity inherent in many areas not only opens us to the perspectives of others but can be a catalyst for spiritual development. In this sermon, we'll explore how to not only tolerate uncertainty but embrace it as a tool for intellectual and personal growth.
