51 years ago today, I knelt in an alley near West Tech High School in Cleveland, Ohio and gave my heart to Jesus Christ.
My life from that day, September 2, 1974, has never been the same. And I have traveled around the world to over 50 countries telling everyone I can that they too can know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Won’t you ask him to come into your heart today? You will never regret that decision.

John 3:3, Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

I remember being at a conference years ago when a poor old pastor asked a very well known speaker a question. The famous speaker arrogantly, wouldn't give that pastor of a very small church even the time of day. He saw himself as "superior" to that poor man, as he did to nearly everyone in attendance.

It's funny how things can change over the years. Now that renown speaker found himself fallen on hard times. Here was a man who really did help a lot of younger pastors get into ministry, suddenly found himself friendless and over time few people even knew who he was.

Proverbs 21:13 says, "Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out (in their time of distress) and not be heard."

Treat everyone as you would want to be treated. That is called "THE GOLDEN RULE!"

Flattery is the counterfeit of honor. It is ultimately self serving, and it cheapens the privilege of recognizing greatness in another.
The difference between flattery and honor is that people don't mean what they say when they flatter. In fact, they believe the opposite.

Proverbs 28:23, "He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue."
Proverbs 20:19, "He that reveals a secret is a slanderer, and he that is faithful in his spirit hides a matter; and do not associate with one whose lips are full of flattery."
Proverbs 29:5, "To flatter friends is to lay a trap for their feet."

And whatever you do, don’t flatter yourself!!!

THE THREE M’s OF LEADERSHIP

“Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.” ~ Matthew 20:26

To say we have a leadership crisis today is the understatement of understatements!

I see THREE qualities in great leaders. And all three must be incorporated simultaneously. Whether it is in business, politics or ministry these THREE still apply.

1. THE MAN/WOMAN MUST BE RIGHT!
Nothing takes us further or faster than personal integrity. The things you do repeatedly and when no one is looking.

I knew a guy who was really charismatic and had creative ideas for accomplishing things.
But he could never overcome his womanizing and unfaithfulness to his family. He always blamed others, and everyone always made excuses for his sins.
While I’m a big believer in second, third and forth chances. After a while, some people will just never change.

2. THE MESSAGE MUST BE RIGHT!
What we are selling, marketing or saying must be accurate.
As a preacher of the Gospel, I’m am always mindful that it’s not my MESSAGE. It’s God’s!
And some people give meanings to God’s Word that even HE didn’t know it had.
Some people should take more time to be students before they are teachers.

3. THE METHODS MUST BE RIGHT!
You may be RIGHT personally, and SAY the RIGHT things, but what about your methods.
Do you cut corners? Lie? Exaggerate your accomplishments?

Years ago I had a favorite author I read. His books were about finances.
He had insights into what kind of insurance you should buy and how much. He taught that you should not buy a new car.
Now some people love that new car smell, and I say, buy a spray bottle of that for $2 and save $15,000.

To this day I still practice many of the principals this man taught. But he got into trouble marketing his ideas and eventually went to prison before dying very young.
There was nothing wrong with his MESSAGE...it was his methods that ruined him.

Why not take a personal inventory today?
How are the THREE M’s working in your life?

THE HYPOCRITE

A HYPOCRITE...have you ever met one?
A HYPOCRITE...have you ever been one?

We’ve all had an apple out of that bag.

The word HYPOCRITE is a Greek word used to describe an actor in a play. In Greek culture, the actors would play numerous characters by wearing MASKS.

Today, many people in our culture do the same. On one day, around certain people, they wear a mask. Yet on other days, a different mask.
INTEGRITY is not wearing a mask. It’s what you see is what you get.

John 8:29, Jesus said, “...the one who sent Me is with Me...because I ALWAYS do what pleases Him.”

It was crystal clear what Jesus would ALWAYS do!!!
Character is what we ALWAYS do...even when no one is looking.

The HYPOCRITE complains about immorality, s*x and violence on his VCR!!!
The HYPOCRITE is someone who is not quite himself on Sunday.

I was in downtown Detroit last summer and a group of street preachers were yelling that Jesus was BLACK!!!!
The famous da Vinci painting of Jesus looks quite ITALIAN.
On the Sunday School felt board he was always WHITE.
Frankly, it isn’t His color that matters to me, it’s the fact that HE is REAL!!!!

I believe what the world is looking for are Christians who are really REAL!!!!
Lord, help me to always be one!
My prayer is that no one will ever reject my Savior Jesus, because of the actions I displayed.

Maybe this is a good time to take off your MASK. The REAL you is who matters!!!

MEETING OF THE MIND & HEART

In my morning devotions today I came across a verse I have read a thousand times, yet today was the first time I really saw it.

Psalms 85:10 says, “MERCY and TRUTH have met together...”

If you spend even a little time on social media, you will discover two camps. And these two camps hate one another!!!

First you have the MERCY Camp.
Then you have the TRUTH Camp.

One is motivated by feelings and visual images.
The other one is motivated by facts and sources of information.

While both of these camps can claim to be biblically right, in many cases they are both wrong!

Many of our Christian young people today have amazing hearts of love and MERCY for people. The compassion of Millennials today is truly an admirable trait. Yet many Millennials when surveyed did not believe the Bible was THE divinely inspired Word of God.
If you don’t believe the Bible is God’s Word, then you won’t believe it’s actually true. If you don’t think it’s true, you will not make it your standard of conduct or the final authority in your life.

On the other side we have the TRUTH camp. These folks are convinced that THEY ARE RIGHT about everything.
Words like, LAW, LEGAL and TRUTH are proclaimed with passion.
But what is often overlooked is how their opinions make other people feel, or how their dogmatic approach can actually drive unbelievers farther away from God.
Some people think it’s their mission to PREACH THE TRUTH!!!! But that is not what God’s Word teaches.

Ephesians 4:15 says, “But speaking the truth in love...”

The question we need to ask ourselves is:
(1) Is what I’m saying THE TRUTH according to God’s Word?
(2) Am I motivated by a loving heart or do I simply want to be right?

Wouldn’t it be great if we could have a cease-fire, and MERCY and TRUTH could meet together?

If you are a CHILD OF GOD and you marry a CHILD OF THE DEVIL, you will have lots of problems with your father-in-law.

2 Corinthians 6:14, "Do not become partners with those who do not believe, for what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship does light have with darkness?"

CONFESSION: I'm a HATER!
I can't hide it any longer. Whenever you have a different point of view, people call you a HATER. Well, I am one!
Proverbs 8:13 says, "To fear the LORD is to hate evil, pride, arrogance and crooked perverse speech."
So there you have it. I will always be on the opposite side of EVIL!
I HATE IT!!!
