🚨 Third Sunday Youth Service | Sermon Highlight 🔥

When Jesus told the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15, He was speaking to a Jewish audience.

To fully appreciate this story, we have to understand the cultural context.

In biblical times, men commonly wore long tunics or robes. For a man to run, he would often have to lift his garment, exposing his legs. For an older, respected man, this could have been viewed as undignified.

But look at what Jesus says in Luke 15:20:

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”

DON’T MISS THIS! 🔥

The father wasn’t concerned about maintaining his dignity or meeting cultural expectations. His priority was reaching his son!

And isn’t that a beautiful picture of the Gospel?

Just as the father ran toward his son, God pursued us through Jesus Christ!

Romans 5:8 reminds us that while we were STILL sinners, Christ died for us!

Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, God made a way for sinful humanity to be reconciled back to Him!

The father in the parable ran toward his son despite what culture might have considered undignified. Jesus endured the shame of the cross because of His love for us!

That’s how much God loves YOU!

You may have walked away from God, but God has not stopped loving you.

And because of Jesus, THE WAY HOME IS OPEN! 💙

Hey family of 16 and 17 year olds:

Did you know that you can pre-register to vote in the State of NC BEFORE you turn 18?

This means that once you become eligible by age to vote, your voter registration application will then be processed. Until you are registered, you will not be eligible to vote.

You too, can take advantage of this privilege now because the next presidential election is depending on 🫵🏽

As voting season begins, let’s not forget about our future voters. Parents, we’ve heard our Pastor say it multiple times, “exposure and experiences are the gifts that last” so here’s an opportunity to make another one for your 5-17 year old.👇🏽

Kids Voting NC in Nash County will have the kids poll area open to vote at the Nash County Agriculture Center -1006 Eastern Ave Nashville on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm and on Election Day- November 3rd will be 11:00 am-6:00 pm.

What is Kids Voting NC you asked?
It is a non-partisan program that builds civic knowledge, civic skills, and civic identity in North Carolina for youth under 18.

Kids have the chance to show up, vote on the same candidates and issue as adults and receive a sticker to show they performed their civic duty.

Let’s continue to make Lady G. proud and show up with as many of our 5-17 year old Wordites this season.
