It is with heartfelt sympathy and Christian hope that the First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church family announces the passing of our beloved sister, Sis. Lillie “Sweetie” Henderson.

While our hearts are saddened by her transition, we rejoice in the promise of God’s Word: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me” (Psalm 23:4). We give thanks for Sis. Henderson’s life, her witness, and the many ways she touched the lives of family, friends, and our church family.

A Home-Going Celebration honoring her life and legacy will be held:

Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

Pastor Rodney M. Avent, Sr. will deliver the words of comfort and encouragement.

We ask that you continue to lift the Henderson family in prayer during this season of bereavement. May the God of all comfort surround them with His peace, strength, and abiding presence.

Obituary
Mr. Kenneth "Ken" Lynch, age 72, transitioned on May 25, 2026 at Nash UNC Health Care.

Please remember his family, friends and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Visitation will be held on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026 at First Calvary Baptist Church, 823 Beal Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Pastor Rodney Avent will deliver words of comfort to the family.

Interment will follow at Marks Chapel Church Cemetery.

Final rites and professional arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Family Mortuary.
