WBS saw record enrollment numbers once again this semester, helping to address the national pastor shortage. Driven by 35% growth in our Master's programs and 80% growth in our Bachelor's program, we now have 675 students taking over 2,800 credit hours. We praise God for every student boldly stepping into God's call for their lives, and give thanks for the donors removing financial barriers so they can answer that call. Save the dates! October 5-7 will be our annual Chamberlain Holiness Days. This year, we will feature lectures from Dr. Justin Bradbury and Dr. Billy Coppedge. We're also expanding to include other types of events—from a student-led night of worship to an evening of fellowship and fun with scholar-turned-comedian Michael Halcomb. It's been an exciting week as WBS kicked off our first live-online classes for Spanish-speaking pastors. Students from Cuba, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia are taking Theology of Holiness with Dr. Chris Lohrstorfer, with translation by Assistant Dean Miguel Morales. This new program builds on our previous success with in-person partnerships in Mexico City, and is part of our Fallow Ground Initiative to provide new pathways to theological education for students. We're thankful for donors who have stepped up to provide scholarship support to many of these students. Please join us in praising God for these new faces, and in praying for them and the impact on their ministry as they launch into this semester of learning together!

What's your NIL deal? It was a joy for WBS to participate in the Stegall Seminary Scholarship Endowment Foundation 2026 banquet in Montgomery, Alabama recently. Dr. Karl Stegall and his wife, Brenda, have spearheaded an incredible effort over the past 19 years to create an endowment of over $10 million, which provides significant support to seminary students across South Alabama and North Florida, including many WBS students. At the dinner, Dr. Stegall noted that tens of millions of dollars will be spent this fall to support "NIL" deals for college athletes. He encouraged the gathered donors and students to consider a different kind of NIL deal: How can we seek to honor the Name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names? How can we look more intently on his Image, as the one who gave himself for us on the cross? And, how can we commit ourselves to his Likeness, to become more and more like him in our love and service to others by the power of the Holy Spirit? We're thankful for the way the Stegall Foundation helps to lift the financial burden for WBS students as they pursue their God-given callling, and hope that his words can be an inspiration to us all.

WBS is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brian Yeich as Assistant Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Brian brings a rare combination of scholarly achievement, administrative leadership, and pastoral experience to Wesley Biblical Seminary. He holds both a PhD in Wesleyan Theology and Evangelism from the University of Manchester and a Doctor of Ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary, where he previously served as Assistant Provost.
Brian pastors a Global Methodist congregation in Louisiana, with previous pastor roles in both large and small churches, including a church restart. He has worked as a Missional Discipleship Coordinator with World Methodist Evangelism in partnership with the Inspire Movement, a missional discipleship network based in the United Kingdom.
For the past five years, Brian has served Wesley Biblical Seminary as an adjunct and affiliate professor, teaching courses in church history, denominational history and polity, and Christian classics. He has distinguished himself through exceptional student engagement.
As Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, he will oversee institutional effectiveness and accreditation in addition to his teaching responsibilities. He also serves as WBS Champion for Co-Vocational Ministry with the Vocatia Collaborative.
“I am thrilled to be taking on this new role with WBS,” said Brian. “I look forward to seeing how the Lord continues to work through the seminary to develop trusted leaders for faithful churches.”
“Brian’s scholarship and his administrative skills are both a great blessing to WBS,” said President Andy Miller III. “He has served our students admirably, and we are excited to see his impact increase with this expanded role. Most importantly, he models a life committed to discipleship, evangelism, and dedication to Christ. His active ministry in the local church and his emphasis on Wesleyan discipleship, bands, and class meetings further strengthen his contribution to our mission.”

WBS is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Scott Engebretson as Assistant Professor of Old Testament. He brings together the strengths of a pastor, scholar, and educator. He holds a PhD in Old Testament from Asbury Theological Seminary. Scott’s roots with WBS run deep, as an alumnus of WBS (M.Div.), and having served as a research assistant for Dr. John Oswalt, our esteemed emeritus Professor of Old Testament.
Scott has served successfully as an adjunct and then affiliate professor at WBS for the past five years, teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in Old Testament, biblical theology, and ministry formation. His students consistently value his ability to connect rigorous scholarship with the life of the church.
Beyond the classroom, Scott has more than 20 years of ministry leadership experience and currently serves as lead pastor of Northwest Vineyard Church in Colorado. His experience includes church planting, discipleship systems, leadership development, and strategic organizational leadership.
“I am both honored and humbled to step into this new role,” said Scott. “It has been a great privilege to serve and teach at WBS as an Adjunct and Affiliate Professor over the last five years. As graduates of WBS, both Hannah (my wife) and I had the distinct privilege of being formed in deep and lasting ways by the faculty at WBS. We carry the imprint of the institution deep within us! More specifically, I’m also deeply aware of the legacy of Old Testament scholars who have served at WBS in the last 25 years. Dr. Oswalt has been a model and a mentor to me for over two decades. He, Dr. Tashiro, and later Dr. Richter have shaped me and my approach to the biblical text in profound ways. For these reasons, I do not take this opportunity lightly.”
“I am excited for our students to be able to experience the combination of rich biblical scholarship, profound commitment to Christ, and effective pastoral leadership that Scott brings together,” said President Andy Miller III. “Scott has served WBS well for years, and we are thrilled to take this next step in expanding his role with us. In his life and his teaching, Scott embodies our mission to develop trusted leaders for faithful churches.”

Through WBS alumnus James Wolheter, we've identified a partner in Bolivia with 30 students eager to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry through WBS. However, a major financial collapse in that nation means these students are not able to pay even our reduced rates for international students. A donation of $600 will scholarship one student for this academic year. If you would like to support these Bolivian brothers and sisters, visit http://wbs.edu/spanishscholarship.
