Deep Compassion

“Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name Yah, And rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭68‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This is a beautiful verse in psalms as the writer pours out his gratitude and his praises to God.

These verses are verses of compassion that God has on his people …

Each day is given to us by God it’s what we do with that day that makes a difference in our relationship with Him and our every day walk with Him.

We should sing praises to our God, no matter what goes on in our lives and I know that is difficult to do sometimes because we go through some junk !!!!!!!

But He is a sovereign God He is a just God. He is a god of compassion, and if we are to be like Him, we have to produce His traits on a day-to-day basis.

We should show empathy and have that active listening, no matter what is going on in our lives.
Some of my greatest moments in ministry have been to minister to somebody when I was going through a lot of junk myself and to get feedback from people saying I really appreciated what you said I appreciated what you did.
And I’m very quick to tell them it wasn’t what I said and did, but God threw me because God knows what we need before we ever need it.

“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. True compassion is seeing people where they are. We are to look at the need in their life and act. Accordingly we are to give hands up and not hands out. We are to uplift and not judge and put down.

“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly isis plentiful, but the laborers areare few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9‬:‭36‬-‭38‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We are to have the mentality of serve and not be served …

There are so many needs and so many things that we could be actively doing to show compassion and show Christ behavior within ourselves .

We should be reflecting on God‘s mercy and give mercy and not judgment and not just pass something off so many times we overlook a need because we’re so caught up in our agenda and what we think in our eyes is the right thing to do .

“The man Micah had a shrine, and made an ephod and household idols; and he consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest. In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”
‭‭Judges‬ ‭17‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The enemy is all about deception and we should not allow him to deceive us into doing what is wrong in the eyes of God ……

And we should show God‘s mercy and grace at every turn ….

“Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Spread Out Your Roots

HE IS WITH YOU

He hears all and He sees all. Every action every thought.

“And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.””

And I’m gonna be honest He doesn’t like what he sees with me lately.

““The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

Correction, has to come and obedience has to rise within me to take care of these wrong thoughts and wrong actions.

I know as for me I get caught up in looking at others instead of looking within myself.

The “Did you not see what they did mentality?”

“And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank isis in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.”

So I need to turn my focus on He is with me ……..

He did see what happened, but He also sees my reaction so I have to change my mindset to react in his image and not my flesh …

He is with me, no matter what I do or what I say, and if I am going to be Christlike, my mindset has to be on reflecting Him in everything .

Refuge And Strength In The Word

I know, sometimes we just need a place to run into and cry out and be held ………..

A strong place that will crumble above us are underneath this ….

And we need it to be on time and we need it to be constant …..

That’s our God !!!!!!!!!

“My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In times of trouble, our mind is not right ……..

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

And strength we need Gods strength to do what’s right ……..

“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired. [Heb 12:1-3]”

But we have to stay connected to God in order to receive these things from His word …..

We have to stay connected and we have to read God‘s word and not only read God‘s word but get God‘s word inside of us ……

New Perspective ….. WHEN

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We all go through many seasons in our life. I am learning how to change my perspective.

I’ve always looked at a trial and a difficult season is something to go through and not something to grow through……

WHEN we change our perspective and surrender, the blessings will flow. We can’t always see them at that moment, but they will flow…..

“while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The enemy knows where to attack me and how to attack me and how often to attack me to get me to not change my perspective….

Some days he wins, but most days here lately he doesn’t. It’s up to me to keep a positive mindset WHEN chaos erupts all around me.

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I find WHEN I prioritize prayer over anything else that’s where the blessings flow in the perspective changes ………

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬-‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My perspective changes in the middle of a chaotic situation WHEN I take my focus off me and turn it towards someone else and pray for that person standing in the gap, for that person have empathy for that person no matter what that person has done or said …….

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. My perspective changes the most WHEN I have gratitude in my heart …

Unshaken Roots

“He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

During Katrina before I married brother Paul, I had a house in Laurel right across the street from the Cameron center.
The day Katrina decided to visit us. I decided to stay in that house and not leave..
There was a huge oak tree right beside my driveway. as Katrina reared its ugly head and rolled through Laurel. I watched that tree that huge oak tree, rooted and grounded moving ,it would move up and it would move down. It would move up and it would move down, but it never fell. Until this day it’s still standing there.
Because it had unshakable roots !!!

That’s the way we’re supposed to be as Christians to be rooted and grounded in Christ and have unshakable roots….

Are we gonna get moved from side to side absolutely or we’re gonna get pulled from here to there? Absolutely but the roots will stay grounded. They will be unshakable……

When we’re rooted, we are drawing our strength and identity from Christ!

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.””
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

To have unshakable roots we must be built up constantly !!!!

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

To have unshakable roots, we must be constantly grounded and abiding in Christ with gratitude and Thanksgiving.

Correction

Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Here lately as for me, I’ve been correcting myself.

We all go through different things in different seasons, and this season has really taught me a lot of correction.

Correction is not easy and it’s painful sometimes ……..

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Correction, produces the fruit of righteousness ……

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Correction also trains us ……

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Honor God

“being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As I sit here this morning and meditate on this verse, my first thought is do my thoughts Honor God?

Absolutely not sometimes …….
As for me, I think I focus too much on people‘s opinions of me and not enough on what God knows that I am, and that what I am capable of in his image .

I can only speak for me. I cannot speak for others and that’s what I’m struggling with in this season in my life, others opinions of me and how I believe that their opinions are hindering more than helping. .

“Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”

So I have to ask myself do I honor God with my time ?????

““If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.””
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Am I honoring God with the talents that he has given me ?????

““For the kingdom of heaven isthe kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, whowho called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had receivedhad received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his Lord’s money. After a long time the Lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His Lord said to him, ‘Well done,done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. And am I honoring God with my temple or my body? ?????

“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And most importantly am I honoring God with my heart ??????

“Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭29‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
