What are pastors really wrestling with right now? In this episode, The Timothy Project founder Chad Hunsberger sits down with new TTP Director, Guy Burke, to talk about a new season for TTP — and, more importantly, what they’re hearing in conversations with pastors and ministry leaders. From the...

❓What sustains a ministry leader when passion begins to fade?

Calling matters. Obedience matters. Zeal for the mission matters.

But none of those can replace a deep and growing love for God.

🛜 In our latest article, “Spiritual Vitality: The First Priority for Global Workers,” Sydney Dixon reminds us that ministry challenges, disappointment, isolation, and unseen fruit can eventually exhaust even the most passionate leader.

The answer isn’t simply to work harder.

Before we can faithfully pour out, we must continually be filled up through our relationship with Christ.

Whether you’re serving across the world or leading a church across town, this is a timely reminder: Your spiritual vitality is not secondary to your ministry. It is foundational to it.

❓ WHO NEEDS ENCOURAGEMENT FROM YOU THIS WEEK?

As ministry leaders, it's easy to become so focused on what needs to get done that we overlook the people doing it alongside us.

Your staff member.

A faithful volunteer.

Another pastor.

The person quietly serving every week.

Someone who's carrying more than you realize.

S. Truett Cathy once said:

“How do you identify someone who needs encouragement? That person is breathing.”

Someone around you needs to hear:

- I see you.
- I appreciate you.
- You're making a difference.
- Keep going.

Don't just think it—tell them.

📱 Send the text.
🖋️ Write the note.
📞 Make the call.
☕ Grab the coffee.

📖 “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up…” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Your encouragement may be exactly what someone needs today.

Who can you encourage this week?

⛪️ PASTOR, REFLECT ON WHAT YOU GET TO DO THIS WEEKEND.

You get to open God's Word and proclaim truth.

You get to stand with people in their joy—and their pain.

You get to welcome someone who almost didn't come.

You get to encourage the weary, point people to Jesus, and invest in things that will matter for eternity.

Yes, ministry can be heavy.

But don't let the weight cause you to miss the wonder.

This weekend, you don't have to do ministry.

"You get to."

What a privilege to serve Jesus and His Church! Revisit when he called you to ministry!

Go love your people well this weekend, pastor. We're cheering you on!!

The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace. - Psalm 29:11

📞 MIDWEEK CHECK-IN:

You spend a lot of time asking,
“How is everyone else doing?”

Today, ask yourself:

❓How am I really doing?

Spiritually.
Emotionally.
Relationally.

Take a moment, 5 minutes even, and write down your thoughts regarding these three areas.

You don't have to work everything out today! But healthy leaders are willing to pay attention to what's happening within them.

⏰ Take five quiet minutes today.

Pause. Pay attention. Pray.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart…” — Psalm 139:23

‼️ PASTOR, SUNDAY DOESN'T DEFINE YOU.

Maybe yesterday was incredible!

The room was full.
Someone responded to the gospel.
The sermon connected.
You went home encouraged and blessed.

Or maybe it was HARD.

Attendance was down.
The sermon didn't seem to land
Someone criticized you.
A difficult situation keeps rearing its head.
You went home wondering if you're making a difference.

Reminder ~ Neither Sunday changes who you are in Christ!

Before you are a preacher, leader, strategist, counselor, or pastor...

🙌 You are a child of God!!

You are loved because of Christ—not because of yesterday's attendance, offering, response, or sermon.

So today, celebrate what God did without letting success define you.

Learn from what was difficult without letting disappointment define you.

And remember:

✝️ Your identity isn't found in how Sunday went.
Your identity is found in Jesus.

Pastor, we're praying you lead from that truth this week.

Small groups should be about more than simply "getting through the Bible study."

Biblical community happens when people don’t just study God’s Word together—they "know one another, encourage one another, carry burdens, and grow together."

In “More Than a Bible Study: Why Community Matters in Your Small Groups,” we’re reminded that healthy groups create space for both "truth AND relationships."

Ministry leaders: Are your groups simply covering content, or are they cultivating community?

👓 Take a few minutes to read this practical article from The Timothy Project. Then consider: "What’s one step you could take to help your groups become places where people are truly known?"

What a great start to the 2026–27 Timothy Project Cohort!

The Timothy Project exists to equip and encourage pastors, and today we gathered for our first session focused on "Leading from Overflow"—because the spiritual health of a leader matters.

Before we lead others well, we must pay careful attention to our own walk with Christ. Healthy ministry flows from leaders who are continually being filled by Him.

Our desire is simple: thriving leaders leading thriving churches.

We’re grateful for every pastor who joined us today—and excited about the journey ahead!
