We had a wonderful "Picnic Church" with our friends from Tapestry Richfield, MN Wednesday night! We had an eclectic, delicious potluck and then joined together for a brief bilingual worship service, with singing (Deaon Josue rockin' the conga!), a message from Pastor Ellery, and Pastor Melissa translated everything and presided at holy communion. We look forward to our next "Picnic Church" together on Wednesday, July 29th at 6:00pm!

The next phase of our roof project is underway this week here at Oak Grove! New supplies have been dropped off, and work is getting started. The main front doors should remain open for at least a few days as they do their work. Unfortunately, the turkeys seem to be on"turkey time" and have not reported for work yet, but we'll keep watching for them!

Everyone is invited to a delicious potluck dinner together with our partners at Tapestry on Wednesday, June 24th at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall. After sharing a meal, we will have a short worship service together with Holy Communion. This will be a great time to catch up with each other and with our friends at Tapestry. We ask you to bring something to share, and maybe a friend- All are welcome!

This past year, a team of folks from Oak Grove have been meeting with other congregations in the Minneapolis Area Synod, ELCA to learn more about MAS Faith & Neighboring Practices and how we can learn to focus, "not on what is wrong, but what is strong", in our local neighborhoods. Part of this work is inviting our congregation to do a "Neighborhood Walk About" and take note of what we see, don't see, what we smell, and what we hear. We did our first Neighborhood Walk About Sunday (June 14th) with about 20 folks (and Ruby, the cutuest puppy ever!). We met some neighbors, saw/heard/smelled things we had never noticed driving by, ate some Mulberries, and ended our time together with sweet treats at Dairy Queen. We will have another opportunity to participate after worship on July 12th, so we hope you can join us!
