Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, parishioners seek to help each other live the Christian life by example, service, and worship. Matthias is associated with other parishes of the Archdiocese of San Francisco under the direction of the Archbishop. Through local pastoral leadership, parishioners seek to live the gospel and promote the Kingdom of God as proclaimed in the scriptures. The spirit a

nd generosity of the actively involved families give witness to their commitment to St. They desire good liturgy, scripture study, prayer groups, ongoing education, spiritual nourishment for their children, social gatherings and a strong sense of community. Matthias parishioners reach out to the needy and search out ways to respond with care to others. Matthias is its welcoming atmosphere in which others are invited to join and feel at home.

God of love and compassion,
we give you thanks for mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, adoptive mothers, and all women who nurture life with tenderness and strength.

Bless those who have carried children in their wombs and those who carry others in their hearts.
Bless women who teach, guide, protect, comfort, advocate, and accompany others with wisdom and grace. Bless those who mother through friendship, ministry, caregiving, mentorship, and acts of justice and mercy.

May all women who give of themselves so generously know the depth of your love and the gratitude of your people. Strengthen them when they are weary, comfort them when they grieve, and fill them with joy in the sacred work of nurturing life and hope.

We remember, too, those for whom this day is difficult , all those who mourn mothers, long to be mothers, are separated from children, or carry wounds around family and loss. May your gentle presence bring healing and peace.

Through the example of Mary, Mother of Jesus, may we learn to cherish compassion, courage, and faithful love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
