St Barnabas, named Joseph at the time of his birth, was a Levite and one of the first to embrace the Christian way. Although he was not one of the Twelve, St. Luke refers to him as an “apostle.” After hearing the apostles’ testimony in Jerusalem, he sold a field that he owned and laid the money down at their feet. St Barnabas was a friend to St Paul and brought him to the apostles, when Paul went to Jerusalem and wanted to redeem his reputation. Next, St Barnabas was commissioned to go to Antioch to shepherd the Gentile converts. He invited St Paul and they met with the city’s infant church and instructed them for a year. Afterwards, he traveled through Asia Minor and was a respected missionary and advisor. St. Luke describes St Barnabas as encourager, “… a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith” (Acts 4:36, 11:24).

In 2026, Corpus Christi falls on Thursday, June 4. This is the Thursday following the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity (Sunday, May 31). However, in most dioceses in the United States, and in many other countries, the celebration is transferred to the following Sunday, so Corpus Christi will be celebrated in 2026 on June 7. This is so that more of the faithful can participate. The feast remains anchored in its traditional Thursday observance on the Church’s liturgical calendar. Additionally, the traditional Thursday observance mirrors Holy Thursday, when Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper, directing his apostles to offer his body and blood “in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19).

Jesus offers himself under the sacramental forms of bread and wine; i.e., according to the priestly/sacrificial order of Melchizedek (1 Cor. 11:23-26; see Gen. 14:18-20; Heb. 5:1, 7-10).

Why Does the Catholic Church Celebrate Corpus Christi?
The Church celebrates Corpus Christi to profess and adore our Eucharistic Lord. Jesus is truly present body, blood, soul, and divinity in the Eucharist. At every Mass we partake of the Lamb of God, the New Covenant Passover sacrifice. Not only that, this feast highlights the sacramental and sacrificial reality of Christ’s presence. Additionally, it affirms the Church’s teaching on transubstantiation, and invites the faithful into deeper Eucharistic devotion.

Day 1 of Summer Stretch in the books! We started the day with the Mass, then Adoration, then breakfast by the wonderful Mrs. Zimmer. We started our service project at Love Inc. We weeded the rock gardens, painted some inspiration on some flat rocks, and finally we "arted" the sidewalk for their presentation weekend.
Quick lunch and then to the bowling alley for some fun!

O God, who through the folly of the Cross wondrously taught Saint Justin the Martyr the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ, grant us, through his intercession, that, having rejected deception and error, we may become steadfast in the faith. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
— Amen

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Cor. 13:14).

Today, the first Sunday after Pentecost, is the solemnity of The Most Holy Trinity. The mystery of the Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith. Through it, we learn who the one true God is and how He reveals himself to mankind, “…reconciling and uniting himself to men.”

Liturgically, we have returned to Ordinary Time. With a deeper sense of the recent Paschal mysteries; we are encouraged to, “…be open to the action of divine Grace, to progress in love of God and of neighbor” and to enter more deeply into the life of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
