From American independence to the antislavery movement, racial justice, and care for the poor, Beneficent has always been an activist church, responding to social needs. That tradition continues today as we extend God’s extravagant welcome to all. What

ever your age, culture, economic status, gender and gender expression, language, nationality, physical or mental ability, race or sexual orientation, and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are most welcome here. Beneficent Church is an Open and Affirming congregation. Our Meeting House and fellowship rooms are fully accessible (elevator at main entrance off parking lot). Beneficent Congregational Church is a member of the United Church of Christ.

Don't forget! Our "Blessing of the Backpacks" is THIS Sunday, August 16th during our 10 a.m. church service!
Before students, teachers, and educators return to school on August 17th, we want to send them off with a special blessing. Anyone who is a student or works in education is invited to bring their school or work bag (or any back-to-school item) they would like to have blessed. See you there!

Please bring your favorite stuffed animal with you to church this Sunday, July 26th!
This will be an intergenerational worship service, a little less formal and more interactive, with time for conversations in small groups instead of a sermon. We will hear and talk about how God created the world and rested on the seventh day. All ages and abilities welcome!

🎵 Rhythm and Praise – Summer 2026 Concert 🎶
There's plenty in the news that'll make you sing the blues... It's time for some rhythm and praise! Join RPM Voices of Rhode Island for their annual summer evening of uplifting African American/gospel music, live at Iglesia Pentecostal Monte Sinai, 155 Power Rd., Pawtucket.

RPM is happy to report that, with the support of Zeffy, the only 100% free fundraising software for nonprofits, we will be able to offer a "tap to pay" option at the door. Got a credit/debit card? Not a problem! (Cash is still welcome, of course.)

The building is handicapped accessible. There is a big parking lot.

If last week’s record heat taught us anything it's that without air conditioning, the heat is a killer! Many of our neighbors unfortunately struggle with finding ways to stay cool during warmer weather, which is why we're bringing back our summer Beat the Heat campaign! This year, we’re asking you to donate the following items from July through August to help us as we support Better Lives Rhode Island (https://www.betterlivesri.org/) :

*travel-size versions of hygiene items (sunscreen, deodorant, soap, etc.)
*socks
*underwear
*protein bars
*portable shower/body cleansing wipes

Donations can be dropped off directly to Better Lives Rhode Island during their business hours or brought in with you on Sunday. Donations can also be made via cash or check (memo line “Beat the Heat”), or online at our website, www.beneficentchurch.org (pick “Better Lives RI” from the donation drop-down menu).

A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported us this year as we prepared for and participated in Rhode Island's PrideFest 2026! It was an incredible time full of sunshine, laughter, love, and creativity. We had a blast reconnecting with familiar faces and making new friends throughout the day. Due to the incoming storm and the need for the roads and parking lot to remain clear, we are cancelling all in-person church services and activities for tomorrow, Sunday January 25th. As an additional precaution, the church office will be closed on Monday and all staff are asked to stay home until we can assess the extent of the impact from the storm.
