Church Beyond the Walls seeks to build Christian community where physical and spiritual hungers are fed together on the streets. Founded in autumn of 2012 as a presence to the people of Occupy Providence, CBW began its life as a mission of Church of the Epiphany (Episcopal), Rumford, under the leadership of the Rev. Since then the community has grown to over 50 people who meet weekly for worship and a shared meal—in sunshine, rain, and snow!

Join us tomorrow at CBW's worship service as we officially welcome Vimar Rodriguez as Church Beyond the Wall's Assistant to the Missioner. In Vimar's words:
My name is Vimar Rodriguez. I was born in the Dominican Republic and have spent most of my life in Providence, Rhode Island. I am a member of Gloria Dei Evangelical Lutheran Church, where I serve in youth ministry and Licensed Lay Minister.
I’ve also had the opportunity to serve in the youth ministry where Pastor Linda has been my mentor for many years, and through that partnership, I was introduced to Church Beyond the Walls. What I love most about Church Beyond the Walls is: I can see God here. I can feel God here. Every time we gather, in worship and in community, God’s presence is real and alive among us.
We see God in one another. We feel God in the love we share.
Jesus calls us in John 13:34–35:
“Love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Loving one another doesn’t mean we won’t have disagreements or difficult moments. It means we choose to stay, to listen, to grow, and to work through those moments—with grace, with patience, and with the help of God.
Because in the end, it is our love for one another that reveals God to the world.
