August 13th, some reminders and updates:
1st) Cemeteries are sacred ground. They are not public parks.
Monuments are memorials created by families for their loved ones. Many unique ones exist - throughout the world - and yes, in Poultney too.
Do NOT EVER walk on bench monuments. It is disrespectful and causes damage to them. Do NOT sit on them without permission of the family.
2nd) Please DO NOT drive on the grassy areas. It causes damage when it is wet. We are all volunteers caring for this beautiful property. Damage caused when this occurs is also added expense for the volunteers to repair it.
3rd) Saturday, August 22nd from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., weather permitting, volunteers will be appreciated to help with the project previously noticed to tackle the problem of growth of grape vines in the property. Please read (or reread) the notice and be a volunteer with the officers if you can.
AND, if you can be a volunteer with us - be sure to wear clothing to insure your legs and arms are fully covered. Wear gloves and spray your clothing with bug repellent too.
NOTE: In case of bad weather on the 22nd, we will try again to tackle this problem on Saturday, August 29th, 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
4th) Plots are available for purchase. Now is a good season of the year to purchase yours. For information, please call our phone number below, or send an email to us. See email address below.
And, thank you to everyone for gifts to Poultney Cemetery Association's annual fund. Each yearly gift helps us to undertake work needed with roads, trees and lawn care. Each gift is very gratefully appreciated.
Monuments are responsibility of plot owners and their families. Check with your insurance provider for information about having your monument(s) included in your policies.
Poultney Cemetery Association is a 501(c)(13) non-profit and all yearly gifts to it are tax-deductible by donors.
To send a gift, please make check payable to Poultney Cemetery Association (you can abbreviate it to PCA) and postal mail it to our address: P.O. Box 63, Poultney, VT 05764-0063.
