How does Acts 4:23-27 challenge us today to rely on prayer and the Holy Spirit as we live faithfully in a culture increasingly hostile to the Gospel?
Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel.” And He writes to Timothy and says, “And I don’t want you to be ashamed of the gospel. Don’t be timid about things. You haven’t been given the spirit of timidity but of power and of love and of self-control. Therefore, do not be ashamed.”
When he writes to the Thessalonians, he reminds them, “We had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict.”
Let's spend an hour together in the House of the Lord. It's time well spent in a quiet, calm, restoring atmosphere. Just what we need to give us strength for another week.
Join us Sunday, June 14th at 10 am to learn how we can be a bold army for the Gospel of Jesus.

Why do I have to keep reading my Bible? Why do I have to KNOW what God has said? Do I really need to spend that much time in the Bible when I’m already a Christian and know all about God?
I have to answer these questions with two more questions: How do we know if something is wrong if we don’t know what’s right? How can we tell if something is ALMOST right if we don’t know what’s absolutely right?
When we’re talking with someone, how can we be sure what they’re saying is scriptural? Are we supposed to ‘judge’ what they say just to avoid controversy?
Are we supposed to separate ourselves from those who aren’t biblical? Or are we, as Christians, supposed to accept what they’re saying because we think everyone should be unified?
Some Christians feel that because we’re Christians we’re not supposed to judge!!!!! What does God tell us about judging false doctrine?
Join us Sunday, June 7th at 10 am as we learn together what Jesus has to tell us about discernment.

Have you ever wondered why our world seems so emotionally hungry all the time? Why are people so fragile? Why do they feel horrible? Why are there so many depressed and mentally unstable?
The answer is that people are on a diet. They’re famished. They’ve been starved for truth. People are hungry for hope and thirsty for the God-given message of the Scripture. And the Bible teaches this would happen.
People have lost their appetite for biblical truth. Because there’s so much access to the Bible, churches and television or smart phone sermons, we’ve gotten a weakened theology, overlooked Scriptures, and ruined spiritual hunger.
In order for believers to fight this famine, we must force-feed on Scripture, staying burdened for souls, become diligent students and share the gospel. As Christians we must live Christ-centered lives that will triumph over the drought of truth.
We often think we’re different than history -- but we're not!

It’s important that we’re ready for the return of Christ. So, how are we to be ready? How do we prepare ourselves for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ? How can we be on the alert? We're told how we should prepare ourselves for the glory of Christ at the time of His second coming. And the Bible tells us how we should be living while we await His return.
So, tomorrow morning we’re going to talk about just that! Practical, biblical things we, as Christians, are to do every day.
Are we ready for Jesus’ return? Are we living in a way that reflects our love and anticipation for Christ? If not, now is the time to align our life with His Word.
Jesus’ return will be sudden and swift, just as He promised. Whether it happens in our lifetime or beyond, the call remains the same: BE READY!
Our hope is a sure hope. It’s an eager anticipation of a secure future with Christ. It’s a hope without doubting. It’s a hope to share!
Join us tomorrow, Sunday, May 24th at 10 am to learn how we can 'Be Ready' for Christ's return. United Baptist Church of Poultney, 1500 East Main Street (On the East Poultney Green), Poultney, Vermont.

Last week we spoke about how God's Holiness never changes. Our problem as humans is that we have such a small view of Almighty God. We truly don’t understand what the phrase “God is Holy” means. I’ve said it before but it’s important to think about: I believe we all would live our lives differently if we really understood how holy God truly is!

God is holy. His worth can’t be measured by humans. God is holy - first and foremost! The first attribute of God! All other attributes reflect this holiness. God’s holiness is totally complete and never-ending. Never changes. And because God is so holy, He can’t tolerate sin or anything less than HIS holiness. The center of heaven is God. The song of heaven is worship. The joy of heaven is God’s holiness. How often do you think about the fact that God is holy? Not just powerful, not just loving, but holy.
Join us tomorrow, Sunday, May 17th at 10 am to learn how God's holiness should change our lives here on earth.

Ordinary people, living our lives, expecting life to continue as usual – day after day. Then you turn on the news: a couple found passed away in their home, someone wielding a gun with bad intentions. The television keeps serving it up – a steady drip of events. It could drive us to fear, looking over our shoulder. We stare at the screen and it doesn’t stop. Doesn’t the world feel out of control?

Yet we keep moving along throughout our day. Ordinary life, stitched together with our routines. But the air feels different – ear is a quiet preacher. It never raises its voice. It just stands beside us and whispers, “The world has teeth”.

Luke 12 challenges that voice and replaces it with a Godly fear and a steadier faith. In this parable Jesus warns about the craving to hold on to things, pile things away, hoard things, and secure the future with bigger stacks. Then He tells a story that sounds like a normal American dream until the last sentence breaks it.

Join us tomorrow, Sunday, May 10th to learn how to have a Godly fear and a steady faith regardless of the chaos of this world.

Have you ever been doing your devotions or standing at the kitchen sink doing dishes and wondered, really wondered, how powerful God is? Or thought about God knowing EVERTHING? I have!
But I can’t seem to wrap my head around the wonder of these things. I’m not sure we have the minds to truly understand the magnitude of God’s nature. If we did, I’m certain we would live differently!
First Chronicles chapter 29 verse 11 tells us, “Thine, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Thine is the dominion, O Lord, and Thou dost exalt Thyself as head over all”.
God has unlimited power and ultimate control over everything. He can do anything without effort. It’s no more difficult for Him to create a universe than it is for Him to make a butterfly. We get tired when we work, but God’s infinite power never lessens.
Join us tomorrow, Sunday, May 3rd at 10 am to worship our awesome God and learn of His greatness.

Do YOU have a life filled with hope? As Christians, we have a "Living Hope". And Peter encourages us to understand this hope so clearly that there will be times when people will actually ask us to give a reason for the “hope” that we have. It will be so obvious by the way we live that others will see it, be so struck by it, that they’ll come and ask us about it.
Nobody can live without hope. As soon as hope goes, our bodies and our minds shut down. As long as hope remains, we fight on for as long as possible.
And when hope fades, we find that all we can do is the best we can for as long as we can. Without hope, a deep, dark shadow falls over everything, every achievement, every enjoyment.
We understand this. Everybody longs for hope. Everyone longs for a reason to exist. And even in the hardest of times, as long as there’s hope, it’s completely different. Someone can live with nothing when they have hope, but they can’t live in a castle without hope. Its hope about the future that helps us live well in our lives today.
Join us tomorrow, Sunday, April 26th at 10 am to learn more about this Living Hope.

I don’t think we can ever truly know God – we can’t wrap our human minds around who God really is! We read in our Bibles that we have an awesome God - - and we should praise Him and worship Him. But we aren’t able to fully understand God’s Nature.
If we did, we’d be living a whole different life, I think. We’d be on our knees – on our faces – praising Him, wanting to bring glory to His Name – always!!
God has an eternal, unchanging nature. He’s self-existent, uncreated, and is sovereign over all. He’s not bound by the limits of His creation. He exists outside of time, without beginning or end, and is present everywhere at the same time.
Of all of the characteristics of God, His Eternity is perhaps the hardest for us to understand. Everything we know in all the world had a beginning. But not God. He had no beginning.
Join us tomorrow, Sunday, April 19th at 10 am to learn together how God's unchanging nature affects us today.
