One characteristic of the dawning of a new religious era is the adoption of a new calendar which symbolizes the transformative power of divine revelation. Today and tomorrow are sacred occasions observed around the globe marking the Twin Holy Days—the birth of “The Báb,” the Primal Point of a new creation and birth of Mírzá Ḥusayn-‘Alíy-i-Núrí, known as Bahá’u’lláh. These two Teachers of a new age brought to humanity a divine plan to reshape our understanding of material, social and spiritual realities. At dawn this morning, the Baha’i community of Portsmouth acknowledged this profound spiritual and historical significance with prayer and reflection as the sun’s light appeared over the horizon from the east.
