May Belle Jordan

May Belle Jordan, formally of Mulga, AL, passed away June 20, 2026 at the age of 66. She worked as a dental hygienist for many years. She also served, alongside her husband, exciting area children as Mrs. Claus.

May is preceded in death by her parents, James D. and Vera Wesson; husband, James R. Jordan; daughter, Amanda Leigh Jordan; and sister, Julia Blake. She is survived by her son, James Lucas Jordan (Kayce); grandson, James Rush Jordan; sister, JoAnna Bosco; brothers, Dan Wesson, James "Jimmy" Wesson, Glenn Wesson and Steve Wesson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Memorial service will begin at 5:00 PM in the chapel. Pastor Ron Green officiating.

Kenneth Wayne Stewart

Mr. Kenneth Wayne Stewart, age 65 of Gadsden formerly of Altoona, passed away at Gadsden Heath and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, June 27, 2026. Kenneth was born January 26, 1961 in Oneonta to the late Bobby Stewart and Glenda Harden Smith. He is also predeceased by his uncles, Gerald Stewart (Margaret) and Bill Stewart (Myra); aunt, Sue Harden.

Kenneth is survived by his son, Zack Stewart (Carrington) of Altoona, sister, Lisa Stewart Craft (Bill) of Pensacola, Florida; brother, Jimmy Stewart (Mitsy) of Northport; uncle, Charles L. Stewart (Marie) of Pensacola, Florida, two nieces and a host of cousins.

Kenneth graduated from West End High School and attended vocational and technical classes at Gadsden State to enhance his knowledge and ability to repair small engines. After working as a small engine mechanic for several years he graduated from the Police Academy and worked for several local law enforcement agencies.

The family is following his wishes with cremation and his cremated remains to be scattered at particular locations that he specifically chose. There will be no memorial services scheduled.

Mark Jerome Green

Mark Jerome Green was born July 31, 1957, to Helen Marie Green and James Green in Birmingham, Alabama. Mark accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Hueytown, Alabama. He received his formal education at Gilmore-Bell Vocational High School in Bessemer, Alabama. He worked as a skilled painter and also at a local steel mill until becoming disabled.

Mark Green (Poke) departed this life on Thursday, June 11, 2026. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Marie Green and father, James Green; brothers, Voncey Green, Lee Albert Green, Bernard Green, Jeff Green, Wendell Green, George Lee Green, Sr., Harriet Green, James Franklin, and John Green; sisters, Wanda Green, Catherine Rogers (Johnny Rogers), and Elizabeth Irvin. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Tiffany Green-Allen (Marcus Allen); grandsons, Jalen Allen and Amari Allen; granddaughter, Chaise Allen; brothers, Charles Green, Darren Green (Annette Green), Larry Green, Travis Green, Lonzo Green, Lorenzo Green; sisters, Daisey Townsend, Bertha Bolden, Earnestine Roberts (Richard Roberts), Myrtle Reynolds, Ovetta Paul, and Odell Thoms (Ralph Thomas); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, June 19, 2026 at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Pastors Darren Allen and Jaylon Cunningham officiating.

Darrell Franklin Watson

Mr. Darrell Franklin Watson, age 84 of Ashville, Al, passed away in a Birmingham Hospital on June 9, 2026. Darrell was born April 28, 1940 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Ralph and Lois Lowe Watson as one of 7 children.

Darrell is survived by his wife Audrey Watson; son, David Watson (Shelly); daughters, Tonya Anderson and Toni Watson; step daughters, Sandria Sturdivant (Doug) and Andrea Millard (Chuck); brothers, Gary Watson (Linda) and Max Watson (Linda); 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Peggy Watson; sisters, Clarice Watson and Sue Green; brothers, Norm Watson and Vern Watson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2026 beginning at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home with interment to follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 PM until service time.

Linda G. Rayburn

Linda Praytor Rayburn, age 75, of Jasper, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026.

Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She cherished moments with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of relaxing at home with her beloved dogs. Her kindness, warmth, and devotion to those she loved will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lou Cash; her father, Harry Donald Praytor; her brother, Harry Donald Praytor Jr.; and her aunt, Willie May Webb.

Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Harley Jay Rayburn; her siblings, Sherry Timmons, Choppy Praytor, and Rita Carrol; her son, Jason Wescott Clevenger; her stepdaughter, Morgan Renee Boyd; her grandchildren, Amberly Higgins and Aaron Clevenger; and her great-grandchildren, Kash Alan Higgins, Kaisley Ann Higgins, Legend Ryker Boyd, and Adrian Jewel Boyd.

Shirley June Williams

Shirley June Sandlin Williams, a devoted mother, cherished homemaker, and faithful servant of God, went to be with her heavenly Father on June 7, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born on September 16, 1938, to the late Curtis and Lillian Sandlin, Shirley was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Harry Williams, and her eight siblings.

Shirley’s life was defined by her deep love for God and her family. As a longtime parishioner of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, she poured her heart into her church community and lived her faith daily. She took great joy in making a warm, welcoming home for her family, and later in life, she also shared her talents professionally as a tax preparer for a number of years.

An artist at heart, Shirley was a skilled, self-taught seamstress who found immense joy in sewing. She also discovered a passion for oil painting, a beautiful craft she lovingly learned from her sister, Lou.

Her legacy of love, faith, and creativity lives on through her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Tracey Tucker (Dan Tucker) and Linda Smith (Russ Smith). She also leaves behind five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

Darrell Wayne Goodwin

Darrell Wayne Goodwin, age 84 of Tuscaloosa, passed away at Heritage Rehab on June 7, 2026. Survivors include his daughter, Jerry Ann Tice (Rodney); son, Michael Wayne Goodwin (Kimberly); brother, Travis Goodwin; ex-wife, Bonnie Goodwin; grandchildren, Hilary Michelle Whisnant (Brent), Kellie Leann McCullar (Cody) & Wendy Dyanne Fisher (Tyler); great grandchildren, Mallory Whisnant, Brynlee Whisnant, Korben McCullar & Ryland McCullar.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents, Raleigh Forrest & Mary Marie Vining Goodwin; son, Bobby Wayne Goodwin; grandson, Devin Dewayne Goodwin; brother, Larry Goodwin and sister, Carolyn Wilkerson & Teresa Williams.

Wayne was the oldest of his siblings, after his father died in 1966, he essentially became the man of the house for everyone. Anyone that was in trouble or needed help with anything always came to him. He had a lot of responsibilities at a young age (24), with taking care of is little family and helping his mother take care of his brothers and sisters. Even though he didn't graduate high school he could fix or build just about anything. He built a car that could run off of steam and also a car that could travel on land as well as into the water.

He enjoyed taking his children to the old strip pits to swim and on Friday nights to the local theater and watching the latest Disney movie. Wayne was an avid ginseng hunter and would love to take his children to the woods and teach them to pick berries and identify plants and flowers. He enjoyed doing a lot of the old time things.

He was quite the practical joker, he loved playing pranks on people, especially the men he worked with. Sometimes those pranks would get them in trouble with their wives. He might spray them with women's perfume or put certain items into their lunch box without them knowing.

After his stroke in 2004 left him unable to speak and weak on the right side, it didn't stop him from trying to always help others. He tried to give advice and physically help build his daughters house. He might not have been a perfect man, but he was loved dearly by his family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026 from the Chapel of Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home with interment to follow in Green Pond Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.

Dorlan "Wayne" Williard

Dorlan Wayne Willard, age 74, left this earth for his eternal home in heaven on June 3, 2026. Survivors include his wife, Susan Willard; sons, David (Heather) Willard, Mark (Lisa) Willard; grandchildren, Haley, Austin, Kaitlyn and Amber Willard and his beloved dogs Nugget and Thor.

Wayne and Susan married in 1972 and shortly after, moved to Pleasant Grove, AL where they raised their family. They were members of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove for many years. Wayne was active in coaching youth baseball and served as Cub Master for several years. He was a retiree of Birmingham Fire and Rescue and remained a life-long firefighter-at-heart by volunteering with the local fire department in the Lake View community. After retiring from the City of Birmingham, he went to work at Fairfield Southern railroad. He got to do the jobs that every little boy dreams of –driving a fire truck and a train.

As an avid animal lover, he was always ready and willing to help Susan with animal rescue and fostering. Many animals passed through their doors and moved on to forever homes while some stayed and became Willard family members.

The best chapter of Wayne’s life was being a Pawpaw. He and Susan were always present for births, ball games, baptisms, graduations, birthdays and vacations that bonded him with the grandchildren whom he adored.

There are no memorial services scheduled at this time.
