Today at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, we celebrated Trinity Sunday, the Sunday following Pentecost and the beginning of the Church's journey into Ordinary Time.
Our scripture readings from Genesis 1 and Matthew 28 reminded us that the God who created the world is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one God revealed in three Persons. While the word "Trinity" does not appear in Scripture, the reality of the Trinity is woven throughout the Bible, from creation to the Great Commission.
Rev. Emily reminded us that we are created in God's image and made for relationship. Because God exists in perfect community, we are called to live in community as well. Using the image of a wagon wheel, she illustrated how drawing closer to God also draws us closer to one another.
The world often tells us to focus on ourselves, but Jesus calls us to look beyond ourselves—to show compassion, extend grace, and care for others. We are called to look beyond our own needs, beyond our church walls, and into the lives of those around us.
As Jesus commanded in Matthew 28, we are sent to make disciples, teaching and sharing God's love wherever we go.
As we begin the season of Ordinary Time, may we remember who God is, who we are, and how we are called to reflect His love in the world.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..." — Matthew 28:19
Thank you to everyone who helped lead worship today through music, prayer, scripture, service, and hospitality.
