1 Chronicles 12 briefly mentions the “Men of Issachar, who understood the times, and knew what to do about it.”
When the LORD showed the prophet Isaiah just how “unclean” were the people of his day, and asked, “who shall I send,” the prophet replied, “Here I am, send me!”
What we do at Worldview Wednesday is very much about applying the spirit of both of these passages. Are we like these men? Are we even trying? Or are we content to lean into tribal narratives? Or worse, are we too addicted to our affluence and comfort to even ask hard questions like these? Are we afraid of discovering the truth that Isaiah learned - that not only are the people around him unclean - He himself is a “man of unclean lips?”
We are 3 years into a nine year journey through the entire biblical narrative, complemented with biblical doctrine, and confronting the issues of our day. And as providence would have it, we had already planned over the next few months to get into some topics that are deeply relevant to the unfolding chaos in the Middle East. Due to recent developments, I have made the decision to move these talks up a few weeks, so as to help us think through these matters in a more timely fashion. So over the next few weeks, we’ll be covering things like the Religion of Islam, America’s relationship to the modern state of Israel, the “Post War Consensus,” the rise of “wokeness” (of the left and the right), some matters of biblical prophecy, the state of American Evangelicalism…and so much more.
If you would like to join us, we meet on Wednesdays at 7:00. Consider listening to (maybe even sharing?) last week’s talk and join us tomorrow!
Note - The original recording cut out around the 45' mark. For the sake of getting the entire message out, the final bit was re-recorded and added to the end...
