A WORD: STATEMENT OF FAITH

There could be no more fitting place to reflect on faith and freedom than historic Mother Bethel AME Church.

Join Rev. Carolyn C. Cavaness, the historic 53rd Pastor of Mother Bethel AME Church and the first woman to serve as pastor in the congregation’s history, as she presides over a special Statement of Faith during Faith & Freedom 250.

Mother Bethel stands on the oldest parcel of land continuously owned by African Americans in the United States. From this historic place, Rev. Cavaness continues a legacy of faith, leadership, service, and freedom established more than two centuries ago.
