Today, on the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, we remember William Thomas McKnight, Jr., known to friends and family as Bill and "Mac" to his fellow paratroopers. A West Philadelphia native, Bill joined the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, completed jump school at Fort Benning, and shipped out to England in late 1943 to prepare for the liberation of France. In the early hours of June 6th, 1944, he parachuted into Normandy, only to be killed in action just two days later. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Bill is interred at Mount Moriah (Section K, Range 7, Lot 3), one of the many World War II veterans whose service and sacrifice are honored within our grounds.

We are excited to share that 8x10 art prints of Mausoleum Hill are now available through Printify! ✨

This breathtaking illustration of one of Mount Moriah's most iconic landmarks was generously donated by Chicago-based artist and author Landis Blair in support of our mission. Based on a photograph by Jenn O'Donnell, Landis captures the beauty of Mausoleum Hill with his unmistakable style and attention to detail.

By purchasing a print, you directly support the Friends of Mount Moriah Cemetery and our work to restore and care for this sacred resting place, with a portion of every sale coming back to us.

This growing season, we're asking for your help 🌱🪦☀

Each week, it costs approximately $250 to fuel the equipment that maintain our grounds. To help cover those costs, we are opening sponsorship opportunities to our community. Sponsors will be recognized across our social media platforms, website, and email newsletter as a thank you for their generosity.

Whether you are a local business seeking to give back, a family with ties to Mount Moriah, or someone who values historic preservation, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're ready to make a tangible impact and become a sponsor, please email us at [email protected].
