The stories preserved at Laurel Hill reach far beyond Earth. ✨🪦

This Women Astronomers Day, we're remembering Hannah Mary Bouvier Peterson, an accomplished science writer and author of Bouvier's Familiar Astronomy. Through her work, she inspired countless readers to look up, ask questions, and explore the cosmos. 🔭🌌

Her legacy reminds us that history isn't just written on the pages of books—it's written in the stars.

📖 Pictured here is an 1857 edition of Bouvier's Familiar Astronomy, featuring a handwritten list of members of the Astronomy Class, Winter Session of 1864. ✨

In honor of Nelson Mandela Day, we here at Laurel Hill planted two native Persimmon trees at Laurel Hill East, reaffirming its commitment to service, unity, and environmental stewardship. Joined by Laurel Hill staff and local members of the community, the tree planting celebrated Mandela's enduring legacy and served as a reminder that the actions we take today help build a more sustainable, just, and compassionate future for generations to come. 🌳💚
