Through the generosity of Laura and The Gilmore Foundation, South Side Mission’s Youth Expansion Vision became a reality.

Their support helped make possible our renovated 1127 Youth Worship Center, E-Sports Gaming Room, and Youth Culinary Kitchen – creating opportunities that will benefit our young people for years to come.

Laura’s kindness, generosity, and commitment to investing in the next generation will continue to have a lasting impact on our mission and the lives of those we serve.

Her legacy will continue to be seen everyday as our young people learn, grow, and find hope within these spaces.

On behalf of South Side Mission’s Board of Directors, Executive Director and staff, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to Laura’s husband, family and friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

We here at South Side Mission are profoundly grateful for her support and the difference she made in our community.

Yesterday, our Youth Ministry made oven cooked Pizza Bagels! Each Pizza Bagel was carefully created with tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh garlic, and spinach leaves.

Thank you to the University of Illinois Extension for teaching our youth each week how to cook healthy, delicious meals.

Thank you to David Vaughan Investments and the many sponsors for making this $73,000 donation possible for South Side Mission. For the 4th consecutive year, DVI has raised money to support our youth ministry and other various ministries. Because of their continued partnership, we are able to support those who need it the most in the 61605 and beyond.

Pictured in the photo is DVI's Alexis Morey and Zack Morgenstern with South Side Mission's Alvin Edwards, Jaylon Thornton, and Jerron Brown. These three young men grew up in South Side Mission's programs, receiving the love of Christ and are now working in our youth ministry giving back the same love they once received from South Side Mission's programs.

DVI's continued support to South Side Mission is one of the reasons we are able to transform lives, one day at time, with the love of Jesus Christ.

Our Greater Academic Progress Program started last month and we have been averaging 84 students, 75% of our students have seen their GPA increase, and we are getting ready for our Thanksgiving and Christmas Meal Ministries.

We are so thankful for your continued partnership and support, and we are excited to see what South Side Mission can do for the community and our youth in 2027.
