Habitat for Humanity of Marion County Iowa Habitat for Humanity of Marion County, Inc. is an IA affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International VISION: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

We build simple, decent, affordable houses for families whose income is between 30% and 60% of the area median income. Homes are not given away, but are purchased by low-income, hard-working families who contribute at least 250 hours of sweat equity, through building their own home, other Habitat houses, or volunteering in the local community. Homeowners pay monthly mortgage payments to HFHMCI whi

ch are then used to build more homes. We also provide Critical Home Repair (CHR) for homeowners within Marion County. CHR helps homeowners who are affected by age, disability, or family circumstances and struggle to maintain the integrity of their homes.

Qualified families partner with Habitat to help build their home and and purchase it with a low-interest mortgage and $35,000 in downpayment assistance.

Future Habitat homeowner Sonia called in some help from her Vermeer co-workers Friday to get her Pella home painted. Sonia has spent years driving 130 miles a day to get to her Vermeer job from her home in Fairfield. When asked what she's going to do with all that time she used to spend driving, she said, "Maybe I'll get a second job!"
