📄 Sermon Notes ✏️

Summer Book Club has officially begun! Join us at Grace United each week as we read select books from the Bible, starting with Exodus. In Chapter 19, we find the central event of the book of Exodus: a divine appointment between God and his people.

The last time God had occupied space within his creation was Eden, and now he comes down to the mountain to deliver a message. In Exodus 3:12, God expresses his desire for this newly freed people to worship him. The Israelites didn't have the Bible to refer to, but spread stories largely by word-of-mouth. They didn't know God's ways like modern Christians. Still, they were drawn to the Father, to worship. If you don't always know what to do in response to God, then you can follow their example and worship Him!

This book also highlights the distance between God and the people as a result of their sinfulness. But God sees this gap in their connection and moves to close it. He forms a people who would make Him known by giving them His Law and His Word. This allows the Israelites to get closer to him. The next time God bridges the gap in such a large way is through Jesus, His one and only Son.

Jesus has bridged the gap between you and God. You have an invitation to meet the Father, to draw close and feel His love, to see what you were created for. Will you answer the call? Will you come near?
