Have you ever had someone repeat something that you allegedly said, and you think, “What?! I never said that!”

I imagine Jesus feels that way a lot.

People love to misquote Jesus, to twist his words to support their own agendas. Some of this is done maliciously, and I think some of it just happens. We are human. Sometimes when we summarize or paraphrase Jesus, we don’t get it right.

Our September worship series will explore some of these often-heard platitudes, and offer alternatives that do not cause harm, and better reflect the expansive, all-encompassing love of God. We are starting tomorrow with "Everything Happens for a Reason." I hope you will join us in person at 9:30, or online anytime.

🌻Sunflower Shoutout🌻

Thank you to the Paola United Methodist Church for the donation of backpacks and school supplies!! We appreciate all that you do!!

Led by the United Women in Faith, we filled 50 backpacks with school supplies for Cottonwood Elementary School USD 368 Paola, KS and Sunflower Elementary School! 🎒

Yesterday in worship, our kids wrote a blessing for these backpacks:

Dear God, bless these backpacks and the students who will get them, even if they are forgetful. Help them to have a good year! Amen.
