Are You a 10? The Real Meaning of Righteousness

**God’s Standard Is Perfection**

We often measure ourselves against other people and decide we are doing fairly well. But righteousness is not a sliding scale, and God does not grade holiness on a curve.

The law reveals that even our best efforts fall short of His perfect standard. Our only hope is the righteousness Jesus earned and freely gives to those who believe.

Stop comparing your score with someone else’s. Look to Christ, the only truly righteous One.

*“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”* — **Romans 3:23**

Judgment Day Parable: Who Steps on the Scale?

Our Righteousness Cannot Tip the Scale

If judgment depended on placing our good deeds on one side of a scale and our sins on the other, none of us could stand confidently before a holy God. His standard is not that we tried harder than someone else—it is perfect righteousness.

That is why the gospel is such good news. Jesus does not merely improve our record; He gives His righteousness to everyone who trusts Him.

Do not rest your hope on being “good enough.” Rest it on the Savior who is perfectly righteous.

*“There is no one righteous, not even one.”* — **Romans 3:10**

Faith Steps In Before the Waters Part

When Israel reached the Jordan, the river was overflowing. God did not stop the water while the priests watched safely from the bank—their feet touched the edge before the way opened.

Biblical faith is not reckless, but it is obedient. Sometimes God reveals the next part of the path only after we act on what He has already said.

Do not let the size of the obstacle become greater than your confidence in the God who leads you.
“As soon as the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan, their feet touched the water at its edge and the water flowing downstream stood still.” — Joshua 3:15–16

✨ Today we continued our Grace Awakening series with Part 4: “Credit of Righteousness.” ✨

One of the most powerful truths of the Gospel is that we are not made right with God by trying harder, doing more, or perfectly keeping the rules.

We are made right with God through faith.

Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.

That means righteousness isn't something we earn—it’s a gift we receive through faith.

Because of Jesus, our sins have been forgiven, the price has been paid, and His righteousness has been credited to our account.

✝️ Jesus took our sin so that we could become the righteousness of God in Him.

The scale has been tipped in our favor—not because of what we have done, but because of what Jesus has already done.

Paid in full.
Forgiven completely.
Made righteous through faith.

What incredible grace! 🙌

We are so thankful for everyone who joined us today. Our prayer is that you walk away with the confidence that your standing with God isn't based on your performance—it's based on your faith in Jesus and His finished work.

In Christ, Condemnation Is Over and Death Is Defeated

Jesus faced sin’s judgment at the cross and rose in victory over the grave. For those who belong to Him, condemnation no longer has the final word and death no longer holds the final victory.

The resurrection is not merely an inspiring ending. It is God’s declaration that Christ’s sacrifice was accepted and our greatest enemies have been overcome.

Because Jesus lives, everyone who trusts Him has a living hope.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1

You Cannot Earn What Christ Freely Gives

Good works matter as the fruit of a changed life, but they can never become the foundation of our acceptance with God. No amount of effort can erase sin or produce perfect righteousness.

The gospel gives us something we could never earn. Through faith, we are found in Christ and receive a righteousness that comes from God.

Obey because you are loved and saved—not because you are trying to make Jesus’ work complete.
“And be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ.” — Philippians 3:9

Jesus Established a Better Covenant

The old covenant revealed God’s holiness and exposed humanity’s inability to keep His law perfectly. We needed more than another promise from us—we needed a saving promise from God.

Through His death, Jesus established the new covenant. Forgiveness rests on His sacrifice, not our ability to make ourselves worthy.

Salvation is secure because the covenant depends on the finished work of Christ.
“Therefore, He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” — Hebrews 9:15

At the Cross, Mercy and Justice Met

The cross is not a picture of God pretending sin did not matter. It is the place where His holy judgment against sin and His immeasurable mercy toward sinners came together.

Jesus bore the penalty justice required so that grace could be freely offered to us. God remained righteous while making sinners righteous through faith in Christ.

The cross shows both the seriousness of our sin and the greatness of God’s love.
“God presented Him to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be righteous and declare righteous the one who has faith in Jesus.” — Romans 3:26

This Monday, we’ll hear from a graduate of True North Recovery who now works with Accurity Industrial Contractors and has a heart for Jesus and for carrying the message of hope and recovery every day. Come hear Randall’s story and be reminded that no story is beyond God’s redeeming grace!
