Please reach out to us via phone or email for more information about our church. In his youth he entered an ancient monastery on the island of Strofades south of Zakynthos. One incident in his life especially reveals his virtue. A man came to him in desperation confessing that he had co

mmitted a murder. He asked St Dionysios to give him refuge. The Saint agreed to this despite learning that it was his own brother whom the man had slain. When the Saint's kinsmen arrived at the monastery, he told them that the murderer had gone. When they had departed, he admonished the man concerning the gravity of his sin, instructed him in repentance, and sent him off in peace. This man later returned and became a monk at this same monastery. St Dionysios reposed in peace in 1621, leaving behind his incorrupt relics. Dionysios rests in the church which bears his name in Zakynthos, where opening his tomb is occasionally found impossible. It is felt that this occurs when St. Dionysios is out performing miracles. Afterwards, when the tomb can be opened, seaweed can be found at his feet and his slippers found to be worn thin. His slippers are continually replaced due to their wear.
