Trinity Episcopal Church cornerstone was laid August 30, 1894. An expected cost of $35,000 to build Trinity. $10,000 was raised at a meeting with pledges for the remaining $25,000.

The priest, Rev. Lloyd had become ill and had always wanted to build a church but never had the opportunity in other parishes. Ottumwa Trinity took on the opportunity to expand with the building of the Trinity building at 5th & Market. Trinity was consecrated by Bishop Perry April 28, 1895.
16 days later Rev. Lloyd died.
