We welcome you as Jesus welcomes all of us. Whatever your background may be, come learn about us and join our worship, our ministries, and our love for God and God's glorious creation. Aidan's Episcopal Church has a long and rich history in Olathe with our beginnings dating back more than 150 years. We are a multi-generational, multi-cultural, and inclusive parish devoted to growing together in f

aith and fellowship while proclaiming Christ as Lord throughout our community. Members - adults and children alike - are very active servants within our parish and in the community around us. For example, we:
+ Feed hungry children and families in Olathe
+ Serve a Johnson County Food Ministry community dinner the 4th Thursday of every month at Center of Grace
+ Share communion and hold services at long-term care and retirement homes
+ Partner with the Olathe School District
+ Celebrate together in worship, education, prayer, and numerous fun activities such as Movie nights, BBQ cookouts, outings, holiday meals, and concerts. Tom Baker at

Red filled the Olathe City Council chambers Tuesday night, and by the end of a marathon meeting, the color of the room matched the outcome.

The Olathe City Council voted 6-1 to approve a two-year special use permit allowing the Starfish Project Foundation to move into the former Aldi and Quilters HQ building at 16175 W. 135th St., near the Briarwood neighborhood.

The nonprofit needed a supermajority — six votes — after nearby property owners filed a valid protest petition against the move. Mayor John Bacon cast the lone "no" vote, citing his own experiences with "people that are needy" affecting his business.

The decision comes after months of contentious debate over traffic, safety and Starfish's clients, and after the Olathe Planning Commission had recommended denial last month.

Starfish Project Foundation wants to give a sincere thank you to everyone who commented, emailed, texted, and called in support of the new location. We believe this is a win for the city and take this very seriously. Now that the SUP has been approved, we are putting together the next steps in the process. Many have reached out to ask, "how can we help?" Please be on the lookout for our "asks for help". There is so much work to be done, and we want to ensure we are doing everything we can to be good neighbors. In the meantime, I do have one request. We had an Olathe school with 25 children in need of weekend meal bags. I know there is a lot going on, but I don't want these kiddos to get lost in the shuffle. Can anyone help with food items for their bags? We will get a list of needed items and update this post. Again, our sincerest THANK YOU to all our family, friends, volunteers, donors, sponsors, our community, and City Council for all your support. We are the community serving our community.
