Fair Oaks Community Church

Fair Oaks Community Church Sharing The church had been built in 1881 by the Northern Baptist Convention. Thirty-seven people were in attendance at that first service. on December 2, 1952.

In 1945 Philip and Veryl Gourley found that the church and the property it was located on were owned and controlled by the Fair Oaks Cemetery Association. In 1946, the first service of the church commenced with Sunday School at 10:00 am and the preaching service at 11:00 am. In 1951 a constitutional committee was selected and in the summer of 1951 the altar was opened to accept membership in the c

hurch. The church was legally incorporate under it's new name "Zion Community Church, Inc." The trustees for the church were: Mr. Philip Gourley, Mrs. Ila Veryl Gourley, Mr. Theodore Edwards, Mrs. Erma Edwards, Mrs. Dorothy Longbrake, and Mr. Lawerence Longbrake. The "Corner Stone" ceremony for the foundation of the recreation and fellowship building was held on the December 14, 1952. The building was finished in the fall of 1955. The plot of ground upon which the building stands was generously donated by Brother Peter Adams and Sister Gladys Adams. In the mid 1960's Sunday School rooms were added to the back of the church building. In 2006 the congregation began to make improvements to the Fellowship Hall. New restrooms were added and a dining area was constructed within the Hall.

2010 a new kitchen was added and in 2011 a new Sanctuary was added within the Hall.

2014 a restroom remodel and new front entrance was completed.
