Yesterday was a powerful day of Women's Mission Sunday worship at Allen Temple! We were blessed by the Preached Word from Pastor Tony Lowden, the first and only Black pastor to a U.S. president – President Jimmy and First Lady Rosalynn Carter – and a national leader in restorative justice and criminal justice reform. If you haven’t heard Pastor Lowden’s sermon, “Not Today, Not Tomorrow, Not Ever,” watch on our Facebook, YouTube, or Vimeo channels!

We also welcomed California Gubernatorial candidates Secretary Xavier Becerra and Mayor Matt Mahan, joined by longtime Allen Temple member Mayor Barbara Lee. Both candidates kindly remained after worship to engage and answer questions.

Starting this Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 PM. our Center for Biblical and Family Studies invites you to attend their new online course - Black Church Spirituality, taught by Reverend Dr. Ineda Player! The course runs for six weekly sessions (ending July 1). Students have two required books: Joy Unspeakable (2017) by Barbara Holmes and Forged in the Fiery Furnace (2012) by Diana Hayes
