San Francisco Kachin Baptist Church

San Francisco Kachin Baptist Church SFKBC is a member church of the American Baptist Churches, USA. He moved to San Francisco bay area in May 2010 with his wife and son.

Brief History:
1990s - Kachin people came to the San Francisco bay area as immigrants through relationships, political asylees, refugees and student visas. Young Kachin adults and some elders began meeting each other and started to form a fellowship
Feb 20, 2000 - Kachin youths formed a group named Kachin Youth Group (USA) to support the needs of Kachin inside Burma and abroad
2006 - The fellows

hip was named as San Francisco Kachin Baptist Fellowship and held monthly worship and fellowship service
2007 - SFKBF Began semimonthly worship and fellowship service at various Kachin houses
Mar 9, 2008 - Began worship service at Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church
Jan 4, 2009 - Began weekly worship service at LABC
May, 2010 - Hosted Kachin Christian Family Camp for the first time, and appointed our minister and ordained our three deacons
Jan, 2011 - SFKBF was named San Francisco Kachin Baptist Church

About Our Minister:
Our Minister is Dr. KD Naw San Dee who acquired his studies at Myanmar Institute of Theology, Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, Candler School of Theology. He achieved his Ph.D in Biblical Studies from Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University in 2011. As a native Kachin, He is keen to promote spiritual growth and unity among Kachin people in SF bay area, in Burma and other parts of the World. He nourishes our congregation with interesting, thought-provoking sermons and provides compassionate pastoral care.
