When You’re Weary

After experiencing a great victory over the prophets of Baal, calling down fire from heaven, the prophet Elijah was so exhausted that he ran into the desert at the threat of Queen Jezebel. He was at the breaking point, totally having lost perspective, and didn’t want to live anymore. But notice how good God is. He sent an angel to not only bring food to Elijah but to cook it—not once, but twice. That food gave him the strength to make a forty-day journey to meet with God. His whole attitude and perspective changed. He came out of the desert with a new passion, more energy, ready for the next season of his life.

God has these times when He’s going to cook the food for you. You’re tired. You’ve lost perspective. Weariness has set in. God has angels preparing whatever it is that you need. You’re not going to have to go after it; it’s going to come to you—the strength, the encouragement, the provision, the right people. Get ready. God is not going to let you miss your destiny.

Prayer For Today:
“Father, thank You that You are always aware of where I am and what I need. Thank You for Your promise of coming to me over and over again to renew me with strength and breathe new life into my dreams. I believe that You are coming now to cause blessings to chase me down. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today's Scripture: Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. - Acts 9:1, NIV

What You Don’t Even Know About

Saul was one of the greatest enemies of the early church. He was headed straight toward Damascus with authority to arrest any followers of Christ. The believers in Damascus didn’t even know it. He was going to cause them tremendous heartache and pain. It looked inevitable. But suddenly a bright light shone down on Saul from heaven, knocking him to the ground. In a split second, God stopped the persecutor in his tracks…and in the process changed him into an apostle.

We all need to realize there were times in our past when we knew nothing about it, but something was coming our way—a bad break, an accident, a sickness. It should have finished us off, but God said, “No, that’s My child. I’m putting a stop to it.” There have been many things you knew nothing about, but God stopped a cancer, stopped a betrayal, or stopped a rejection. It was all behind the scenes. That’s the mercies of God. You need to thank God for what didn’t happen in your life.

Prayer for Today:
“Father, thank You that You are my protector against so many things that I’m not even aware of. Thank You that all that comes against me to defeat me cannot finish me off because You raise up a barrier. I believe that my life is in the palms of Your hands. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today’s Scripture: “Now I am claiming as my own sons these two boys of yours, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born here in the land of Egypt before I arrived. They will be my sons, just as Reuben and Simeon are.” Genesis 48:5

Generational Blessings

In Genesis 48, when Jacob was old and about to bless his twelve sons with their inheritances, he unexpectedly adopted Joseph’s two sons as his sons. That meant that these two grandsons would share in the same inheritance as the twelve sons. Ephraim and Manasseh should have had to wait to get their inheritance from their father, but because Jacob adopted them, he put them four decades down the road. One good break, and they were a generation ahead.

God is showing us that He doesn’t always follow a normal timeline. Yes, there are seasons of waiting and doing the right thing when nothing is changing. But you’re also going to come into these moments of favor when He catapults you ahead. You are a grandson whom God adopts as His own, so to speak. He has some blessings that are going to put you a generation ahead. To reach the fullness of your destiny, there are going to be some of these fast-forward moments. It will be the hand of God, accelerating your destiny, thrusting you years ahead.

Prayer For Today -
“Father, thank You for Your amazing grace in adopting me as Your child and including me in Your inheritance. Thank You that You can take what seems like it could take years to happen and suddenly turn it around for me. I believe I am coming into the abundant blessings of my inheritance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today’s Scripture: And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Luke 9:29–31

Strength to Make It Through

When Jesus was transfigured on the mountain, it’s interesting that Moses and Elijah, two heroes of the faith, appeared and started talking with Him about the overwhelming hardship, suffering, and exhaustion He would go through on the cross. Maybe Elijah was there because even though he had performed great miracles, at one point he was too exhausted to move forward; then God sent an angel to strengthen him. Maybe Elijah encouraged Jesus that God would give Him special strength to make it through. Maybe Moses reminded Jesus that God sent Aaron and Hur to help hold his hands up when he was too exhausted in the battle. Maybe Moses told Jesus someone would help Him carry the cross when He was too exhausted.

When you face times when you feel as though you don’t have the strength to go on, know that Jesus, Moses, and Elijah felt fatigued and overwhelmed. God is going to send angels to strengthen you, the right people are going to show up. God gives strength to overcome, fresh passion, fresh vision. It’s God giving you special strength.

Prayer For Today:
“Father, thank You that You know the weaknesses and exhaustion that I sometimes feel. Thank You that I can rest assured that You are coming with power to give me special strength just as You did for Jesus. I believe that You are supplying me with all I need. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today's Scripture: “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves.” Matthew 10:16, NKJV

Be Calm

Have you ever seen a sheep pacing in the fields with worry and living uptight? They’re always at ease, yet sheep are for the most part defenseless. They can’t run fast and don’t have sharp teeth. They rely on the shepherd to take care of them. The shepherd keeps the wild animals away, shows them which way to go, and keeps them from danger. Sheep don’t worry, knowing that as long as the shepherd is there, everything will be fine.

We can take a lesson from sheep. Stay calm, for the Good Shepherd is watching over you, guiding you, protecting you. Yes, there will be some wolves in your path, some attacks, some things you don’t understand. Don’t fall apart or start complaining. Stay in peace. You don’t have to get all worked up. The Good Shepherd will fight your battles. He’ll lead you into the green pastures and restore your soul. You may go through some valleys, some difficult times, but you don’t have to fear any evil. The Lord your God is with you.

A Prayer for Today:
“Father, thank You that You are my Good Shepherd, and You lead me to green pastures and restful waters. Thank You that even though I walk among wolves, You are protecting me, guiding me, and keeping me from danger. I declare that I am resting in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today’s Scripture: Then David turned away from Eliab to someone else and asked the same question. 1 Samuel 17:30

Turn and Walk Away

The enemy uses offenses and insults to get you upset and try to prove to people who you are or try to pay them back. You end up wasting valuable time and energy fighting a battle that doesn’t matter. If that battle is not between you and your destiny, don’t engage it. Goliath stood between David and his purpose, and David fought that battle. A few days earlier, David’s older brother, Eliab, belittled David in front of other soldiers, but David turned away. Had he gotten distracted by the offense and tried to set his brother straight, he would have missed fighting Goliath.

The mark of a champion is knowing what battles to fight and what battles to walk away from. Are you fighting battles that don’t matter, just trying to prove to people who you are, to set them straight? If you win, what have you accomplished? Are you closer to your destiny, or was it a distraction? When you learn to walk away from what doesn’t matter, you’ll have the strength, the favor, and the anointing to defeat what does matter.

Prayer For Today:
“Father, thank You that You are the Most High God, and You hold my destiny in Your hands. Give me wisdom to know when what is coming against me is simply a distraction that will get me off course. Help me to guard my lips and not get involved in battles that don’t matter. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today’s Scripture: Zechariah 10:1, AMP- Ask for rain from the LORD at the time of the spring rain.

It’s Raining

Rain in the Scripture represents God's favor. So if it's raining, why are we told to ask for rain? God was saying, "Just because My favor is available, you're not going to experience it unless you call for it, unless you declare it." You may not be able to see it, but right now there's good news: It's raining--raining healing, raining freedom, raining promotion, raining connections, raining creativity. God is showering down His favor like never before. Don't let His favor pass you by like a passing rain shower.

The way you get in the rain is by declaring favor. "Father, thank You that Your favor is keeping enemies from defeating me, turning negative situations around, and breaking forces that are trying to stop me." Every time you declare favor, you're asking for the rain. If you keep declaring favor, God is about to show out in your life and do something unusual, something you weren't expecting, and help you take new ground.🙌🏾🙏🏾

Prayer for Today:
“Father, thank You that Your favor is raining down upon me and opening doors that no man can shut. Thank You that favor is causing me to stand out, giving me good breaks, advantages, and preferential treatment. I declare that favor is helping to take me to new ground and reach my destiny. In Jesus' Name, Amen.”

Today's Scripture: This should be your ambition: to live a quiet life, minding your own business and doing your own work, just as we told you before. 1 Thessalonians 4:11

Minding Our Own Business

We all have our own race to run in life, our own purpose to fulfill. What can distract us from that faster than anything? It’s minding other people’s business. “How much was spent on that church remodel? They should have used the funds for something more important.” “He should never have quit his job and started that home business.” “Well, if you ask me, she shouldn’t have married that guy in the first place.” Here’s the whole key: They are not me, no one is asking me, and it’s not my business. It’s their choice, not mine. I don’t know the details, and I don’t need to know the details. I have enough drama in my own life, and I don’t need their drama. I haven’t walked in their shoes, experienced their pain, fought their battles, and I don’t have their background. Maybe there’s something about them and their situation that I don’t understand, maybe it’s not what I think, maybe there’s a good reason behind it.

Let people run their own races while you run your race, focusing on what God put in your heart.

Prayer For Today:
“Father, thank You for all the people You have placed in my life. Thank You that You want me to love them like You do, to support them in every way that I can. Help me to mind my own business and to run my own race in a way that pleases You in all I do and say. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
