St. Brendan School

St. Brendan School St. Brendan Roman Catholic Parish and School have been a part of North Olmsted since 1964. We are one of three Catholic parishes in this city.

At various times throughout the year we share in collaborative events with Sts. Clarence and Richard Parishes.

Each year, Mr. O’Grady’s junior high History classes begin the school year with a patriotic flag ceremony honoring the United States of America and those who have sacrificed to preserve its freedoms. Inspired by the daily flag ceremony conducted aboard the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, the ceremony serves as a powerful tribute to our nation’s heritage. As each fold is carefully made in the flag, student readers recite memorable quotations from great American leaders, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Through their words, the students are reminded of the principles of liberty, courage, unity, and service that have shaped our nation and continue to inspire future generations.

St. Brendan School is pleased to welcome several new teachers to our amazing faculty this year. Mr. Rick Bement joins us as the Frassati Preparatory Academy junior high English Language Arts teacher. He brings a wealth of middle school ELA experience from both Catholic and public school settings, and also has a background in creative writing. Mrs. Jennifer Powell is the new Technology Lab teacher. She has over a decade of experience in education and has a passion for creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences. Mrs. Powell will help our students develop their technological skills through faithful, purposeful, creative, and age-appropriate lessons, supporting our commitment to utilizing God's gift of technology as a meaningful instrument of learning. Miss Julia Lefurge is our new Music teacher. She brings a brings a strong background in music education, classroom teaching, and performance to our school. Miss Lefurge holds a Bachelor of Science in Music and has experience teaching general music in a Pre-K-8th grade setting, developing a music curriculum, and teaching music lessons in voice and various instruments. The new school year began last Thursday morning with a brief assembly for grades kindergarten through 8. Members of the 8th grade class led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and the morning prayers, Mr. De Luca welcomed the community, and Fr. "See You Later, Navigator" - Kindergartener Jack and 2nd grader Elizabeth were busy gardening with their grandfather this summer. They entered the North Olmsted Garden Club’s Homecoming contest where they earned first place for their Rose of Sharon, pepper, and an acorn squash. They also earned second place for another acorn squash and third place for their cherry tomatoes and a zucchini.
