I wish to offer sincere thanks to all who made yesterday's Free Community Thanksgiving Meal a huge success. Our expanded group of volunteers served 206 lbs. of Turkey, 50 lbs. of mashed potatoes with gravy, multiple trays of donated homemade stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce , rolls & desserts to a grateful crowd. We served 95 plated meals in-house and another hundred or more through our carry out line. There were no leftovers. As I am rarely on Facebook we may have missed offers of more volunteers, but the Fairview Park Hunger Center always could use help and donations, and New Hope hosts similar meals the 2nd Sunday of every month, with our Christmas Meal coming on Dec. 14th. The FPHC # is 216-780-0722, & the church office is 440-779-0000 if you'd like to help in the future.
Thanks to"Irish Kevin" and our friends at Gunselman's and the Irish American Club, the many folks who brought in homemade dishes and desserts, and the growing cast of volunteers who serve the needs of our community with great joy. Even as we see hope of ending the shutdown, SNAP benefits can't do it all. Every way we can help our neighbors in need is divine work with eternal benefits. God Bless all!
