The last two days of our peace pilgrimage have been quite an experience! Tuesday, we took Canadian Canoes (kayaks) down the beautiful Barrow River, which is the second largest river in Ireland. Some parts of the river were challenging and some people capsized but in the end it was very rewarding. After that we went to a beautiful river side café and explored the town which had a cemetery with Protestant ruins and a little further we found a hope well. The next day, we started out visiting Signacare, a lovely nursing home where we sang songs, prayed together, and chatted with some of the Irish residents. After, we went on the Coumshigaun mountain hike to a glacier lake. It was difficult, but beautiful and very worth the hardship. Some of the kids (and adults) even got into the freezing water! After all the fun, we had a lovely Eucharist by the lake led by Father Charles. Dinner the last two evenings we got to enjoy Italian and an Indian family style meal. We travel home on Thursday, wish us luck.
Last night, we said our farewells to our host, John and his daughter, Lisa. We are incredibly grateful for your prayers, support, and love as we went to Ireland to learn the ways of peace from the Irish. ☘️
