Reclaiming Christianity in the Public Square: Palm Sunday Action
2pm Meet at Newport City Hall; later march to the Armory
Join us!

"On the day Christians celebrate as Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem in opposition to the greed, cruelty, and oppression of the Roman Empire on a donkey, a symbol of a just, humble leader who cares for the poor, the hungry, the sick, and the stranger. Christians will follow Jesus and embody the heart of our faith on Palm Sunday 2026. We will draw a contrast to the values guiding the actions of the current administration, as we embody and celebrate our love for God and love for our neighbors, regardless of where we come from or what we look like.

"We proclaim a faith that centers on love for our neighbors and rejects a politics rooted in greed and cruelty. To be a Christian is to choose love. Join us as we embody that love and celebrate the heart of our faith on Palm Sunday!"

Palm to Passion Sunday begins with a parade of children and a 'donkey'. We wave native sword ferns and shout, Hosanna! We travel the story of Holy Week. A readers' theater of The Passion takes us to the tomb.

We dedicate the One Great Hour of Sharing offering for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Hunger Program and Self-development of People. Many will return coin banks shaped as fish.

A potluck lunch follows worship. Bring a dish to share. Join the fellowship meal hosted by the Deacons.

Join us at 10am at 227 NE 12th St in Newport, Oregon.

There's still time! Lots of great finds at the Bazaar.
