Today is the second Sunday in Lent. "God of the covenant, in the mystery of the cross you promise everlasting life to the world. Gather all peoples into your arms, and shelter us with your mercy, that we may rejoice in the life we share in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen." —Sundays and Seasons

Today is Ash Wednesday.
Gracious God, out of your love and mercy you breathed into dust the breath of life, creating us to serve you and our neighbors. Call forth our prayers and acts of kindness, and strengthen us to face our mortality with confidence in the mercy of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

“Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.” (A prayer attributed to Francis of Assisi, ELW, p. 87)

We will be local hub location for this event, and will be gathering with our dear friends and partners from different traditions as we explore ways to participate in caring for the world. All our welcome attend!

In exactly one month, people from across Oregon will be gathering in person and on Zoom for the 2025 Interfaith Earth Summit! Participants will talk to state officials, climate scientists, and other experts as they learn how to prepare to address the effects of climate change on their region. There is still plenty of time to register!

Gracious God, as we gather around your table, help us to see the belovedness of our neighbors and the light of your Son they each carry. (Bread for the Day, p. 49)

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. "O Holy Blessed One, we acknowledge before you that the treatment accorded the Jewish people on the part of Christian believers has been a tragic development in the long history of the Church. This includes the horrors of the Holocaust of the 20th century in places where Lutheran churches were strongly represented. With deep and abiding sorrow, we confess before you and one another, and in the presence of our Jewish neighbors, that we have too often been silent before, or complicit in, the sad contagion of anti-Semitism that continues to this day. O Maker and Keeper of us all, reform our faith and our living to reflect more boldly your endless mercy" (A Litany of Confession based on the "Declaration of the ELCA to the Jewish Community").

Today is Ephiphany! ✨ Receive this blessing: Beloved children of God, what came into being in Christ was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. May the light of Christ shine on you with grace and mercy and fill you with joy and peace. (John 1:1, 3-5)
