Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Newport News, Va Welcome home! Here we celebrate God’s inclusive, radically welcoming love. Rooted in faith, striving for justice and equity, grounded in love.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church was established in 1898 when the city of Newport News was in its infancy. The original church building was downtown on 27th Street, but in 1957 the congregation moved to its current location in the Huntington Heights/North End area. Through the years, the church and its ministry have grown and changed the community. Today Trinity is a vibrant, Christ-centered community celebrating the Good News of God's love for all people; welcoming folks from a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, and religious traditions; and working together to alleviate hunger, racism, violence, and hopelessness in our city and world. If you are looking for a place to worship, grow in faith, and make new friends, then Trinity is a place for you.

Learning to love our neighbors: During this week’s Children’s Chat, Pastor Griffin reminded our young ones that following Jesus means helping and praying for others—even when we don’t like them very much. 🙏 It’s not always easy to love, forgive, and pray for others, but that’s exactly the kind of love Jesus calls us to show. What a beautiful lesson for all of us!

The Season of Creation begins today! 🌱🌎

From September 1 through October 4, Christians around the world celebrate the Season of Creation as a time to rejoice in God’s good creation, listen to the voices of creation and our neighbors, and renew our commitment to caring for the earth.

As we begin this season, may we slow down, pay attention, and remember that we are part of God’s beautiful and interconnected creation. 🌎

Let us pray: Creator God, open our eyes to the beauty of your creation and our hearts to its needs. Give us grateful hearts and courageous spirits to care for the earth and all your creatures. Bless the celebrations and all who mark this Season of Creation, that our wonder may lead us to lives of care and renewal. Amen. 💚
